Not gonna lie, no matter who we play, it's gonna be pretty difficult. I know that goes without saying buy North Korea is no pushover at this level.

Looks like one of their players got a red card in the match tonight. Hopefully he was one of their good players.

Iraq are technically better than Saudi I find but whenever we play Saudi it's full of bullshit whereas Iraq come across that little bit more that they like a scrap. Of course, if they lead, they'll lie down. Early goal to then have them open up more.

saudi are good at circulating the ball but iraq have more of a killer instinct and can be clinical in front of goal

Morgan also likes to have limited number of players wide, and china found that if you defend narrow you can blunt Australia to some degree

Looking at their 3 scorelines, I'm speculating that they're a pretty dour outfit that get men behind the ball and will be difficult to break down.

I can't believe it's been nearly 15 years since we were runners-up at the 2010 u19 Asian Cup.

In the more than 20 years that I've been watching Australian underage teams, this could be the strongest group of players we've had. Noting that some of this group's best players are unavailable for selection: Irankunda, Pavlesic, Youlley, Younes, Waddingham etc.

I'd be curious to know the number of senior appearances between the 2010 u19 and 2025 u20 squads prior to competition. Does anyone have those numbers at hand? From memory, much of the 2010 crop didn't get regular senior appearances until after the tournament.
Welcome to the forum, Total Football.

In the Football Aus development system, since the changed curriculum and methodology, results of younger national teams are considered unimportant until adult level.

The main focus from FA Tech Dept is analysing the technique and game sense of Aussie players compared to the opposition. Football conditioning, communication, team tactics and organisation, can be improved at a later stage in players' development.

Many players aged 18-19 fail to kick on and peak early. Conversely, others develop later.
