Australian transfers 24-25 winter

Hearts were but Rowles was steady. They'll realise what they've lost once he's gone. When you see the fees commanded today for regular international centre backs, 2.5m is what Rowles would command. Current reactions from Hearts fans agrees. But hang on, I'm confused. They say he's woeful but now want millions for him? They can't make up their minds. Just like Rangers fans on twitter who change their preferred side every 3 days. Such a strange, indecisive lot.
As opposed to the Australian football fans who hate each other to death.

Do yourself a favour and get as far tae fuck away from twitter as humanly possible.

I think that's a bit out of proportion. And yes, twitter is awash with the rabid delusions of football fans. You'd think they'd have learned by now to be careful what you wish for.

Good to get the Rowles moved sorted quickly. So season starts late Feb. Pre season imminent and some games. Not too bad. Morgens Adam is a nice DC neighbourhood.

You only have to look on the Aleague thread to see my point on Aussie football fans.

Standards. Too many A league players get found found out trying to cope with two games per week.
what standards? Similar quality Australian players go to better euro leagues (belgium, swiss, danish, eredivisie, heck even league 1) and don't get the level of abuse

Can i honestly ask who are playing in the leagues you mention ? Look, abuse is part of football, whether you guys down under , like it or not.

Been following osaussies for years. Here is an incomplete list
Belgium this year: Bos, O'Niell
Belgium previous years: Ruka, Davidson (last year)
Switzerland this year: Chipperfield, Mabil
Switzerland previous years: Bozanic, Vidosic
Denmark this year: Iredale, Toure, Izzo
Denmark Previous years: Mabil, Francois (last year), Amini
Netherlands this year: Balard
Netherlands previous years: Oar, heck even kuol last year was treated well by fans I saw

Much more abuse and unrealistic expectations from scottish fans. Also a lot of the criticism is just wrong

I'd understand it if they didn't contradict themselves every sentence. One day it's 'worst player ever in the shirt' the next 'he's like Maldini' and the worst part is these people mean it. Invariably once our players leave, supporter groups realise what they had. Hang on, Rowles has been part of two squads that got to European competition, had the fewest conceded goals for 6 seasons.

There's a social media meltdown on the transfer fee and the realisation they're thin at the back and a replacement may not fit the bill.

Sorry, I meant playing now. The ones above are not inspiring. I take it , you are a woke fan, that just congratulates for trying. With Like and hate, comes abuse and praise. How do they learn with abuse ? The great players feed off abuse.

If they are uninspiring and the fan bases less abusive and delusional I think that strengthens my point

Entitled fan bases rarely have their teams punch above their weight and tend to underperform. Look at the English national team or the nsw state of origin team. You can say players thrive on abuse, and they might even claim they do but fan abuse is counterproductive

Case in point

Serves em right. Spfl fans need to learn some humility tbh

The other problem is that success in Scotland does not mean international success because the style of play is so agricultural. On the other hand a technically neat player who is physically weak might have their skills underappreciated and decline while they get abused for not being a good hoofballer

Case in point

Ipswich are after Ben Godfrey. Well that's it for Burgess then. Gauci, Ryan, Burgess won't get loans. They'll be squad sacrifices.

Luongo I have some hope for.

I agree in that sense that the tough lessons need to be given. Yet that's all to come from the manager so we shouldn't exactly care what the supporters think. Still, the abuse about Rowles is incessant and unwarranted. I doubt he hears or reads much of it anyway.

A nail in the Aussie project? They're probably looking over at Hibs thinking what did we do wrong.

I have a theory about the abuse Oz players so often get in Scotland...

It just about always takes Oz players a while to adjust to the softer pitches and cold conditions of Scotland after playing on rock hard, zippy pitches in Oz. The cooler conditions allow for a faster pace and therefore less time to make decisions than they are used to. On top of that, there is the unrelenting pressure and scrutiny from media and fans. Some take longer than others.

Those who aren't instantly amazing cop abuse. And the reason Oz players cop more abuse than most (IMnsHO) is that Scots feel bullied and belittled by English fans re the standard of their league. They therefore respond in typical schoolyard fashion by bullying, in turn, those they regard as inferior to themselves. They don't regard Australia as a proper football country (despite our respective FIFA rankings) so they despise the A-League as shite and our players are pish. Any Oz player who doesn't immediately win the league for them reinforces this prejudice.

They can change though. I've seen on Celtic forums how contempt turned to love regarding MacDonald, Rogic, Mooy and (especially) Ange. It's happened on the Hearts forum re Devlin and Nieuwenhof... they've been especially bipolar re Rowles. The Hibs forum is up and down re Triantis and Miller (although Triantis is emerging as a fan favourite, as is Nisbet at Ross County).

Mind you, any Scottish forum can go from joy to outrage and despair (and back again) at any moment. They just really have it in for our players... until they don't.

It's telling that our roughest and technically weakest player at hearts (devlin) is seen as the biggest success

there definitely seems to be an instant hatred of the board with every aussie signed before they kick a ball

we have the most indirect league in the world played in some of the hottest conditions and the scottish league is played in cold boggy conditions and the most physical, direct, dare I say hoofball league I've seen
