Australian transfers 24-25 winter

Iredale sold to South Korean club

With immediate effect, AaB have sold the Australian striker John Iredale to Seoul E-Land FC.

John Iredale joined AaB this summer on a free transfer after several years in German football.

AaB’s sporting director James Gow speaks:

- We have been happy to have John Iredale in AaB for the past six months, where he has especially contributed to the team with his mentality and hard work.

- Now, however, a possibility has arisen and some conditions, which both John and we find interesting, why we are happy to have signed an agreement with Seoul E-Land FC, where we wish John all possible good luck, says James Gow.

John Iredale adds:

- Even though our time together was short, I would like to thank all AaB fans. The support and appreciation has been very welcoming, and it has been a pleasure to play in front of such an energetic and passionate fanbase. Especially when I received my first personal song at Aalborg Portland Park is a special moment that I will always remember.

- From now on, I will follow from a distance, and the team and the club are wanted from my part lots of success in the future, says John Iredale.

John Iredale reached 17 official games and four scores for AaB.

I guess it was out of iredale's hands?

This Korean club seems ambitious and is a newer club. Maybe they've got money to splash. Finished 3rd last season. Can just hope Iredale smashes it and can be healthy and in form.

I remember Susnjar in K2 and info is scarce. Unlikely his German fiance has gotten a gig over there too.

He's already over there in kit and scarf. Non Korean man in photo who may be the director.

Football is funny like that how does a Korean club scout the German league you'd think they come to the a league first

That is one of the annoying parts of these smaller euro teams it can come down to profit especially when the richer clubs in asia come calling.

Happened to Degenek too I think.

Really curious about this Seoul club. 11 years old. 3rd last season. Haven't checked other results. Kit, colours and emblem look alright. Maybe someone with a good decade ahead.

Nah man Korean 2nd Division for a recently-capped Socceroo who was performing decently in the Danish top tier is insane. There’s no way to spin this as a positive, it is outright bizarre.
Had to be the dollars. There is zero playing ambition in this kind of move. Awful.

Does K2 really pay well? Compared to Denmark? Wiesbaden aren't so rich but the earnings should still be decent.

Seoul E Land is owned by the E Land group, a retail conglomerate. Not usual for Korean football. I thought I had some clarity thinking E Land is massive of tech or AI, which Iredale himself is big on. A twitter signing it could have been. Yet it's a retail company. Just so so bizzare and even 15-20 goals a season leaves a question mark of being able to do it internationally.
