Nice comeback!
I thought you may have gone with "was nice to have ended your season last game" but fair enough you kept it above the belt....
you'll see I'm not the low baller type Marki, thats too easy plus respecting all is important I'm old skool but damn Houndog put out a curve ball or bait haha, NFL real sport :)

Update on Woods from Mase, Woods is top 30 because he needs to do a lot of weights to prepare for NRL.

Seems like Woods is going to start the season in Flegg and progress to higher grades if his form is good enough. Playing NRL this season seems unlikely.

Guys who IMO can play in the halves this season.

Burton, Sexton, Hayward, O'Neill, Hutchinson, Mann, KO?, Woods.

I think that we will even play Hutch or Mann in the halves if we think Woods isn't ready.

Karl playing in the halves is only dependent on him being injury free and ready to play.

Long term Woods is definitely going to be the Dogs NRL half for 10 seasons assuming that we can keep him. We were interested in signing Hunt to help mentor Woods.

The question is if Woods starts playing regular NRL in 26, 27, 28.

My hunch is a few games in 26, but regular from 2027 onwards.

Woods might partner Burton, Sexton or O’Neil in the halves. I am not assuming that Sexton will leave but that is likely. I rate Hayward and O’Neill and I think that they can both play multiple positions.

Mase also mentioned some great young middles in Matt's, he was impressed with their intensity.

Karl is still listed in our top 30 on the Dogs site.

I don’t remember seeing anything.

Last I heard he was tracking well but not a contender for round 1 NRL.

Junior reps teams named.

Trial teams will be interesting.

I am very interested in who ends up playing fullback in Flegg and reserve grade.

We have signed a young 21 year old prop from the Warriors, Zyon.

77 metres from 7 runs in a 13 minute stint on NRL debut.

Sounds like impact off the bench at this stage.

If King can play around 27 mins, Zyon would be a good replacement.

Then perhaps another 10 mins from Zyon after half-time.

Team list for the Dogs trail against the Tigers listed. Hughes and Salmon are the only NRL regular in 2024 playing his normal spot. Hayward at hooker and Hayes in the side.

I’m starting to get a little bit excited!!!…

Interesting lesser known players to watch, if they get a run, by number.

4, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 23, 27, 28, 29.

I'm interested in no 20 Cochrane who I think is a fullback.

22 and 24 pretty solid tall athletic wingers.

The real flyer Jordie isn't in the team, I hope he is still at the club.

Always exciting to see young guys try to step up to NRL standard.

Underhill and Todd extended, now both in top 30 for 2025.

If you are playing along at home, we have added 3 good young middles to the top 30.

Underhill, Todd and Zyon. Woods also prompted to top 30 but might not play NRL this year.

Topine and Fox are gone and I have a hunch Turpin is gone. But he might be injured.

Guys that can possibly play 9 in the trial side Haywood, Moyle, O'Neill and Tia.

Moyle is the only specialist 9, but Haywood plays the role well. I think one of the other guys will end up being a 14.

Mann, King and Curran 3 of the middles.

IMO Armone, Hughes, Fifita, Todd, Zyon and probably Sutton fighting for the other 2 prop spots will Underhill likely to play NRL at some stage in 2025. Armone might be a leading contender.

Toups, Hayes, Salmon and Morrin fighting for the bench prop/backrow.

Haywood likely to be 14.

IMO our middles look stronger and if Sutton can get on the paddock he will also be pushing for a spot.

Love the opportunity to see the pups in action… not as easy as once was… the old days of ‘all three grades’ are sadly long gone….

long ago mate - thats part of the prob with the game for me, its only about the top flight.
Bit like Aleague let alone gayfl.
There's something really wrong the way sport is approached in this country.
The ol days watching a good prospective U23 player get to 1st grade was good viewing and for the clubs.
Crowds would be starting to build - families friends of U23 would be like packs of seagulls, then Reserves game would start 1pm place getting half filled, then full for 1st grade.
Your Belmore was packed, kicks for goal onto the rail tracks.
The entertainers.
Brentnall
The Axe - though woke up went to Manly :)
The Doctor
Hughes brothers
Mortimers
Anderson
Lamb
Folkes
Cutler
Gearin
Robbo
Farrar
Langmak
To name a few off the top of my head of the great days of NRL - real scrums, bit of biff.

Enjoy your season Doggies but I hope Manly wipe your arse's :)

Manly only need to do that if we beat them 50-0. 😀

You recommend any cheap bulldogs players that will be good for my reserves that will get minutes this year?
These are young guys not expected to play in round 1 or regular NRL this season who could start playing regular NRL at anytime.

Middle forwards- Todd, Underhill
Wingers - Sua, Wilson perhaps on merit over Montoya and Taula.
Centres- probably need an injury but alternatives to moving Kiraz, Teaupa, Gabrael.
Less confident about the centres because we have more experienced options.

Middles are a pretty good bet and Sua, Wilson because they might shift Karaz to centre.

All of the young players I listed are definite NRL prospects, who might be hard to shift if they get into the side.

Cirro tends to give young guys who are performing plenty of chances.

If it is top 30 only stick to Todd, Underhill and Wilson.

That era was the very very earliest of my Dogs journey…
And it didn’t surprise me that Manley task this season is to wipe our asses…
It’s good to be the King…
