NATO expansion is the obvious, but there are more subtle changes with regimes in the Soviet influence area of eastern Europe. Its not all NATO's fault, but the bear was undoubtedly poked.

Congratulations to the Trumpist supporters on this forum that their man got up.Hard for Democrats and progressives to swallow( including myself) but remember that an immutable law of physics is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction so enjoy your triumphalism while it lasts.

If he starts a trade war with China his supporters will initially applaud this "strong " action but if this causes problems for the US economy and people's finances are affected will the MAGA people stay in love with him-as everyone knows once voters hip pockets are affected they tend to turn on the incumbent politician( ask Albo).Australia will also take a hit as the Chinese will need less of our raw products,especially iron ore ( Gina will not be happy)

Now will he be able to untangle the complex Middle Eastern problems-Israel,Lebanon,Palestine,Iran,etc? Unlikely as too many players have their agendas.He will support Israel and Netanyahu so he will alienate the Arab and Muslim voters in the States who backed him this time.Of course that will necessitate more expenditure supplying the Israelis with weaponry .Many of his supporters will feel that he is wasting money which would be better spent on US problems and citizens.He will tell Zelensky that no more US military aid and advice will be available and will tell NATO that the Ukraine-Russian conflict is a European problem and it is up to them to support Ukraine if they want to.Russia will then consolidate their hold on the eastern portion of Ukraine and then keep nibbling away at the remainder.How he will handle the China-Taiwan situation is anyone's guess.American prestige will take a tumble and his posture as a " strongman" will become a joke.

As for his proposed plan to deport 11 million illegals he will find this will be enormously expensive and initially again he will have support but when he has to abandon it due to the expense his supporters including the Latinos who voted for him will be more than unhappy.Also those businesses in the border states-Texas,New Mexico,Arizona who use the cheap labour of these illegal migrants will find the costs of running their businesses will become exorbitant and may spell their ruin.

He enabled the anti-abortion lobby to overturn the Wade v Roe decision by stacking the Supreme Court with conservatives.As more states pass anti-abortion legislation many American women will understand their rights to control their bodies have been undermined and even those women who voted for him may have second thoughts especially if their daughters and granddaughters have unwanted or medically dangerous pregnancies.

His much vaunted tax cuts will cause a blow out in the already ginormous US deficit and fuel inflation .If interest rates go up of course this will affect many poorer and middle class Americans and there will be a pushback against Trumpian economic policies.

His VP JD Vance is a clever and opportunistic politician.As time goes on Donald will not like to be outshone by him and this will cause problems as Vance will not be willing to be a supine support.Vance is ambitious and if Trump tries to amend the legislation limiting him to two terms Vance will not be a happy boy and will oppose him.By then Donald will be in his eighties and will have loss some of his vitality.

Of course you can say this is all hypothetical and he will triumph over all with his usual bluster and bullshit but I feel that all will not stay rosy in America and indeed even in the Republican party.

The Democrats will need to find a strong,intelligent and reasonably young leader who can win back their old demographic base of working class Americans,especially young black and Hispanic men.

In the end either party who wins has their challenges similar as mentioned.
The hip pocket has been effected prior and to date.
It sure will be a roller coaster I think that’s expected it’s not that they are going into uncharted territory with him.
