Claimed, from memory, that this was all swept under the carpet by a certain few in the FFA who condoned "that sort of thing"....

well considering general topic here's one where the $ divide is pretty obvious of the 2 major codes here.......compared to our game.
NRL is for the 2nd year of 5 kicking off their season in Vegas with 2 NRL games
2 English Super League Clubs having a game
and a Aussie vs English W game.
AFL I suppose must be kicking off with much fanfare as well.
I am a fox subscriber so have seen bits and pieces of both codes pressers.

I've read or heard on radio bits and pieces the NRL have shipped to Vegas around 22ton of gear.

They had booked around 68 field training sessions whatever that means.

They are playing in the NFL Raiders stad, 65k capacity, they hope to get up to 50k - I suppose heaps of freebies would be handed out soon enough to make it look fuller for the viewership.

Have a read of some cost estimates and future - nice having a $ treasure chest.

It will pay for more than 90 business-class flights with Fiji Airways, 32 economy flights, and six days of accommodation at Resorts World, a luxury Las Vegas hotel, for at least 128 players and club staff.
An average business-class flight on Fiji Airways is almost $16,000, but the NRL costs are subsidised through advertising deals.

The NRL has also agreed to pay for training venues, meals, the creation of a VIP hospitality facility and medical insurance for players and doctors, as well as the costs of sending its staff over. They will also split almost $1 million in licence fees among the clubs – the Sydney Roosters, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Brisbane Broncos and Manly Sea Eagles – selected to go.

The rental of Allegiant Stadium, where matches will be played for the next five years, is estimated to cost about $1.2 million a year. That could take total annual costs, according to a number of rugby league sources familiar with estimates, to between $6 million and $8 million a year. Some sources believe this cost will blow out and NRL clubs will be asked to stump up cash (which they don’t believe they should have to do).
