Green & Gold FC Podcast #3 – SMFC Mike & Pete

Sure, regarding old heads supporting EPL or other clubs abroad... but it was NEVER (or at least not mostly) to the detriment of our local soccer club.... The term "eurosnob" at least to me means someone that is a Man City "supporter" despite never having any real connection bar youtube clips or merchandising and NOT a supporter of local club, be that Aleague OR NPL.

Yes, good point.

There is a massive difference with old v new support overseas in regards to that,

I’m with you annd even though tsf makes a fair assumption that’s not fair to many who are invested no matter how.
The word used customer applies to anything you frequent regularly or view is there rules how it’s meant to be - not that I know of.
Obviously he knows that may trigger response such as ours but that’s why we discuss.

The kids today as he rightly says do they care or know the past - well as they grow see and learn that football is about P/R through Jnrs then they get it but have lived with the closed comp but some would wonder and wish how good it could and should be.

Pete made a great point on the podcast when he mentioned his kids (which applies to mine and many others) They have missed out on growing up wiuth a team in the top flight of football in this country.. For them local soccer is a part time small thing to do with dad on the weekend... Yes they get that we are a "Hellas" family but for them true top flight is watching Liverpool with dad on Optus.....

For us growing up our local club WAS the top flight and Liverpool was 2ams infront of the black and white tv ... something unachievable....

Correct agree very much re the next gen’s who by the way by pass APL the many that do.
There’s my point why so much can be achieved for the local game to grow as 1 !!!

If you listen to what Pete and Mike say and substitute the words "South Melbourne" for EVERY single other club in this country its a shared experience... If we want our kids to grow up being football tragics and hope to every do well as a football nation overseas then we have to give them clubs to support and aspire to play for.... 11 in Australia in a closed off league isnt enough.....

Mike and Pete basically, "almost word for word" have explained pretty much every single post about football I have made on here.... Wouldnt really have that much to add. I would much rather hear from an Aleague fans perspective... perhaps another episode idea guys?

BTW Alex, fascinated to hear about the perception of Glory as "english".... probably the most surprising thing on here for me... again bravo... I catn find an emogi but take this as a standing ovation ...... 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I have to say well done to Alex and Grahame (and Pasquali) for the great listen.. Was very well put together and fairly inciteful. Obviosuly it echos my sentiments so not suprisign that I enjoyed.... Clubs, CLub, club club and ... club its the most important fundamental building block in getting us to have the footballing culture and outcomes we all want....
Would love an a league perspective. Stuart thomas from the roar and deathtothensl are a couple of options?
