thats not my point.

I like seeing these clubs with good crowds, just playing on a Monday doesnt help.

South don't own lakeside stadium do they?
Ofcourse not, that why we have to accommodate these other events...

I like seeing good crowds too but if you have been following Knights in any way over the past 3-4 years, last night was a decent turn out from them... Not trying to be a smart arse but their crowds have been pretty shit .. even against us (which, lets face it, is the most important fixture) .. They had a decent tunr out against Bergers at home, if the season gets interesting they will build their crowd back up to where it once was.....

yeah, knights dont travel well in recent years like they used too.

3 Croatian Teams in top tier has split the support in my opinion.

I guess with athletics vic having events on plus gp set up doesn't help them.

Also I'd say south want the game at home earlier in the season as they'd possibly get a bigger crowd than the middle of winter.

I know when the fixtures come out everyone tries to pack in as many home games in Feb and march to take advantage of the better weather.

Once the cold weather and afl season kicks in its anyone's guess how many people you're going to get

History question... What was the last home South owned? And why did they sell?

Middle Park - not South 'owned', but South 'maintained' I guess - they did build grandstands at the venue themselves.
Were forced to relocate when the owners (Vic Gov) were developing the 'purpose built' section for the Australian Grand Prix. Looks like it was located roughly where the exit of the final corner is (oval is still there.. just no stands)

Mono will have more info, I'm sure.

Yeah I'm trying to remember what I read a few months ago. Something like two Greek clubs merged with South because it owned it's pitch? Don't know where I read that.

??? what do you mean? South Melbourne United (main club that combined with the Yarra Park and Hellenic in 1959) never owned Middle Park, it was always a council ground... that was ours for peppercorn rent until 1994 when Grand Prix coming to Melbourne and we were given a long lease on Lakeside stadium to remodel as rectangular stadium at favourable rate as "compensation"... BTW it has now been 30 years since Middle park ... holy crap times goes by quickly .. I can still remember the old girl :(...

Long story short is that South Melbourne has NEVER owned a stadium, just like Western United, Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory, these are state owned or council owned facilities.....
