Perry Park - Olympic Application

yep they have lobbied very well for decades.
Demitriou tenure really set the path they are today - I was pissed even from Syd seeing on the news what was going on here and there then you got McGuire, 2 major links in high places/corporate and pollie world that we haven't had but for Lowy even though got our gam eout there but hamstrung model - your right Barca, best sporting cons in the country followed by just a 2 strong State NRL.
You know why Cairns, Townsville is NRL territory and ground though why not somewhere in the burbs of Briz let alone as mentioned SEQ but again a NRL stronger hold now.
Losing Gold Coast United was a damn shame from a football footprint, from 08 least it would have got some support by now.

It's a shame, because rectangular grounds/stadiums will benefit both RL and Football.

AFL deserves its money, it's by far the biggest sport in the country & makes the most back. Other sports that get more money eg rugby, league, cricket, netball don't

Yep the AFL know how to get what they want, masters of bullying.

Yep it’s a shame the two Queensland teams are not involved anymore it may have helped football’s cause for more funding given the Roar are the only team in the state.
Both the Fury and Gold Coast had potential but both were ruined by mismanagement.

Not a total disaster - TBH Cairns at the time of the Olympics will be perfect weather in the dry season.

We still need an upgrade to Perry Park which apparently still seems to be on the table - though not to a Tier 2 level.

An upgrade to Barlow Park and the Sunshine Coast Stadium along with what is happening at North Ipswich Reserve are all potential pluses for football whether at an ALM or Championship level.

I thought it was Townsville. That makes more sense as they have the stadium. Cairns has Barlow Park and Cazaly's which aren't really Olympic standard.

hmmm so enjoying another totally different sport ruffles your jimmies does it sport? Still happy to watch cars race round and round in a circle in Melbourne while their very existence destroyed my beloved home ground and forces my FOOTBALL club to play away from home for 3 rounds???? Any true football follower shouldnt give a single dollar to the F1 ....:P
