Surprisingly decent at predicting transfer fees to be fair
In their news articles? As in what a club is likely to be paying should a deal go through? I guess it can be close but that information would be more about what media releases have received rather than it being based on what the transfermarkt website initially thinks the player is worth.

If these players had a South American flag then the values are way up. If Circati were Italian, it would be 25m. If Souttar were English, 20m. Goodwin is older but he's that good he's worth at least 3m if not more regardless of his career twilight.

Velupillay 350k. You'd have many European clubs on to that. I think we've agreed on here that our players are incredibly good value, especially from the A League.

u serious?

if anything there's a bias against Asian players in Europe (by fans) however these players are clearly worth their value if you look at the clubs they play for...markets don't care about feelings

meanwhile the majority of the Socceroos are toiling away in lower leagues

They are most definitely good value for lower league sides. The next wonderkid to come out of the A-league will have European teams snatch him up for a few million which is good value.

I think it all comes down to reputation, Japanese football has been on the up for quite awhile starting with the J-League but also ability of their national teams to be competing well on a international stage at all levels is a big factor.

Are our players undervalued? Maybe I think it comes to down to reputation, the more the players do well in the a-league and get sold over, the more of the national teams do well at world cups at all levels the better as well.

Of course there is another things like the value of the Aussie dollar, but most importantly the more the players and teams do well then the value can only go up I dont think Aussie football has got a strong enough demand for its players and maybe they have lost their way but who knows.

so you think Australia is full of undiscovered diamonds of talent?

every Z-league's next big thing has failed in Europe in recent times

if you're any good, the scouts will find you, especially in this age of communications technology
Geez aren't you the definition of cheery

Opportunity, luck and timing play a huge role in success. Being good enough isn't enough, that's too simplistic.

this isn't the NBA

there are dozens of leagues in Europe that provide 100's of opportunities

Well considering it’s all about results in this day and age opportunity comes from success - having players shine at NT games presents the opportunity and I’m afraid what we are dishing up since Qatar is zip !
In fact that wonder finish at Qatar has not presented much success for most of the players nor opportunities.
It is simple being good enough you get noticed and your performances are noticed by many watching eyes it is that simple but we don’t have the rough diamonds and that’s plain and simple.

Seeing those figures of jap and Korean players is the bar and we’re no where near those players abilities.

The Socceroos parked the bus in Qatar and got lucky a couple of times against relatively dire opposition. They didn't play much football or display much prowess other than rigid organisation. Their best player retired 6 months later.

I think quicky's point is that for every half dozen players who show promise only 1 will reach their potential. Some will make bad club choices, others will lack the work ethic, others have bad luck with injuries, others lose their passion for the game, others lack emotional maturity
