Summer of Cricket thread

If we recruit enough cricket posters, we can create separate threads for Aus Test Cricket, Shield Cricket, BBL, international comps, women's cricket.

I have permission to plug G and G FC from one of the Whirlpool Mods, but I'm still nervous if another Mod takes offence, as they don't confer much as a collective unit. I post in a few sections there - weight training and book reading, as well as cricket.

Pasquali was banned somewhere for plugging G and G FC. I think it is really unjust - having moderated in a number of settings before. No warning, just a ban! Very poor adjudication!

Good day, Rimac.

Welcome to G and G FC.

We must know each other if you posted on Inside Sport cricket section.
Rimac and I met on WP a couple of months back and in our conversation we found out both of us had been on IS/C, likely after you and I left. And like us, he detests trolls, so after you invited me here I invited him.

That is what I had in mind too. As currently only the Aussie Summer is covered we will need an away Aussie thread by Feb for the Sri Lanka tour. Either that or we combine a home/away thread. What is your view on this @Pasquali

Btw, In this BG series (India v Aus) what do you guys think about Marsh. Seems hes failed on too many occasions to be given chance after chance. Took a couple of good catches in Melbourne but its almost like the selectors are looking for an excuse to keep putting him in the team.

Scores: 6, 9, 5, 2, 4, 0, with a 47 his only shining moment in second innings of the first test.

Those are woeful figures for a top 6 cricketer batting when the ball is softer and bowlers are tiring. No better time to bat. His bowling too has not been all that flash. And 12 months after taking out the AB Medal. Sorry Bison's days as a Test all rounder are finished and he should complete his career in white ball. Better suited to that format. Betting tho he will play in Sydney and wont be sacked for the Sri Lanka tour.

A boffin. Physics, one of the super smart Aussies. Do you have any connection to quantum research and development.
Please excuse all the questions. I am a naturally inquisitive person.
no worries! I'm a particle cosmologist. So I look at the first second of Universe from "why is there more matter than anti matter" to "what is dark matter" "what happened during the rapid expansion period known as inflation" and was there any thing in that first second generating gravitational waves

mitigated by the fact that green is injured. But thought hardie would be surely better?

with green injured who is the best replacement? Neser? Hardie?

I've had a good look look at averages over the last few years.

I think Labu ( average 27 this year, 28 last year), Marsh (average 10 this year,) and even Usman (average in low 20s) should all have been dropped. They are all 30 plus, with Usman now 38.

I'm still calling for Webster to replace Marsh for the next Test, as is Mark Waugh. It is even in the the mainstream media now, where Webster's last season's all round batting and bowling Shield figures, and this one including Aus A games, are the best since Gary Sobers.

Henry Hunt ( age 27) replaces Usman, and to shove McSweeney ( age 25) down the order, not to have dropped him.

If Test selectors don't drop long term underperforming players they are contributing to a team ageing as a very old team together, whilst the aforementioned 3 are out of form, or finished anyway. They are also thumbing the nose at the Shield - where batters and bowlers put in long, hard stints, compiling big scores and bowling sustained spells.

White ball cricket doesn't help players prepare for Test cricket like the Shield.
one challenge is the shield season is too short so hard to press your case

Hi everyone!!

HUGE cricket tragic whose first love well before discovering the round ball was cricket.

For what it's worth not sure keen on a 'home' and 'away' thread, but definitely makes sense to seperate the formats...I guess.

Cheers

If Neser wasn't injured he would have been pushing Boland for selection once Hazlewood went down.

I don't think his batting is anywhere near good enough to replace Green and your number 6 needs to be a genuine bat more than anything.
