The Ange at Tottenham Thread

So the knives are starting to come out in Australia now too??
they have been out here for ages - even in the thread.

I so wish him the best hence me chimming in this thread for ages even though I have no care where Spurs normally are :)
I'm with r_laces alot with the overall look of Ange there and as mentioned, Conte/Chosen1 failed he was always up a creek without a paddle worse with a lesser squad than they had as well.
Levy is the crux of it all but he sure isn't going to die on his sword, Ange will be the next lamb slaughtered - amazing he's lasted this long tbh.

I'm definitely not in that camp.

I never begrudged Ange for taking the Spurs job, even though he was leaving a massive club whose fanbase worshipped him like a god.

A Premier League offer is very rare in anyone's career and it is almost impossible to turn down.

Having said that, I think the Spurs job is a poisoned chalice. You are imprisoned by the actions of Levy.

Don't come to Spurs with your lofty ambitions. Top4 and a decent run in the Champions League is enough for little old Daniel.

Yeah mate, I agree with you... Always thought it was a dumb move but getting a EPL gig is hard to turn down.... I dont think, if he gets canned at Spurs, he is done though.... I reackon he will get another go at the EPL....

You know what you're going to get with Ange, so the question for an owner will be can he give him the squad he needs to succeed?
that can be said most of the coachs - they all become known quantities only the few get to to the cream jobs like most things.

As far as I'm concerned he made it just with a club that has made up the numbers for decades now.
It would be fascinating being a fly on the wall hearing his discussions with Levy.

In that lower tier of club, outside of Bournemouth, Forrest and Brighton are there many others willing to do wholesale changeovers?

During his time at Celtic I think there was almost 30 players recruited/turnedover. That's a huge amount but is what I think required for him to succeed.

In contrast, I think Ange has overseen a turnover of 10-15 players at Spurs which is just not enough.

I get where your coming from But comparing what happenned or occurs at SPL for eg doesn't apply the same at EPL level to me.
Also you made another good point of the divide, the lack of CL progress or Europa, yep Rangers done ok not long ago nothing much post let alone pre, they fail miserably.
He was in a 2club horse race, he was in the best financial position club, they don't spend anything like it is in EPL.
EPL is tuff top to bottom no matter the $ recruiting differences and club outlook and players.
Up to 30 no way, its about quality and barring 2/3 he pulled in (Bervall/Solanke/the other young kid playing CB, he hasn't been able to get in others with exprienced quality (maybe good Bgrade players don't want to go to spurs ? lack of good paying Levy contracts ? to back up the core.

There doesn't need to be knives out here. Spurs will either stick with him (and avoid a payout) or not. I suspect he will stay (Spurs will want to avoid a payout and Ange won't be forced out by criticism) He will get some injured players back and regain some of his gloss in the next 12 months before bailing himself for another European gig.

I can't remember which talking head mentioned it this week but ANge's boss move would be to win Europa or one of the domestic cups and announce he is leaving the very next day . lol

I think with losing Kane and an ageing Son, Ange needed about 20 players (mix of youth and experience) to have the depth to compete.

Spurs are 3-5 players short in my view.
Son is 32, I wouldn't consider that old at all.
Kane sure losing that 20+ leader is a big one but they sure haven't suffered scoring goals - its letting them in their end :)

He's got to stop reacting to these incidents.

Surprised he didn't go for Jota... would make a decent squad player and would at least be a body through the door, knows the system.

I think its a massive issue, I knew he wouldn't get the money to bring in the wingers he needs to actually pin teams back. His opponents know they cant do shit and are waiting to counter. Get some proper top class wingers who will pin them back. Teams just aren't scared to play them which kills his system in my opinion.

You see it every week slow ball out to Son, left back goes steaming into the box - Son cant do anything they trigger the press get it back and go.

Yang Min-Hyeok has joined Championship side Queens Park Rangers on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

Not like Yang was going to play much but that's just another pair of legs missing. If he's good enough to play for QPR then he can help with bench cameos at Spurs. They really need some signings. Won't happen. Ange said a number of players will be available within 15 days.

At Tottenham, if Levy has not spent money on getting better players, you can count on it that they operate their medical and sport science at a shoestring.

Having your entire 1st team injured plus more - that's not bad luck. That is bad sports science.
I agree.... injuries are NOT on Ange's style, thats a laughable narrative by disgruntled fans... Well done johnsmith, I actually agree with one of your comments...
