The Ange at Tottenham Thread

I said it last year he should of went for Sancho he is so good around the box with those little flicks and one and twos with cucurella/palmer. He would fit Ange's system perfectly. Sarr and Boussima have fallen off a cliff. Getting real tough now.

2 dumb penalties. The second in particular was idiotic. Running away from goal and nearly out of the box.

You may still get pissed on but at least you tried to protect yourself.
Carra is right here as some of us have mentioned.
Levy
14 mangers over 23yrs.

Mark Bosnich says he used to advise Ange Postecoglou to change his approach when they worked together on Australian television 🇦🇺

Always been a stubborn bugga, he needs to wake up for surely he sees he doesn't have the cattle especially this comp.
Got away with it easy at the SPL, JPL I actually think is a stronger comp but he had all the resource there.

Levy is his block, he's never gone OTT for players for as long as he's run the club.
They got the $$'s thats what astounds me, he raked in more revenue with the stadium - like come on mate let him buy 5/6 players for thats what he needs.
There is a core but needs few more very good start up players and a massively improved bench.

jas88, agree re Sancho, would have been a top recruit, you wonder what united are seeing now how much they squashed him.
He was damn good in that game.
I more so marvel at Palmer - 22 what a player ! the sheer arrogance of his pen takes let alone his play, they tried to kick him off the park haha

Hahahah only thing Bozza knows about "tweaking" isnt confined to the football pitch.

Graham Potter seems to be the bookies favourite to take over from Ange but former Spurs player Jamie O'Hara seems to think Daniel Levy wants Keiron McKenna from Ipswich....

Personally if I was Levy I'd be trying for Brendan Rodgers.

Who's next in the hot seat at Spurs?

Brendan Rodgers would be an excellent choice. He's a superior manager to Ange on many points, including in game management, developing younger players and as a tactician. Much more savvy with the media too.

I wouldn't wish Spurs on him though, too nice a guy.

Ange has always been stubborn tactically, but he refuses to adjust he's tactics like a different build up shape or the way he defends if the high line/high press doesn't work against a certain side he will only change the personal in the system and that probably makes him unique but also a reason why he's not at the same level with the elite managers as they can adjust without comprising their style.

Their 2-3 shape with both inverted fullbacks going forward into the advanced areas, whilst both No.8s play high in the half spaces and their wingers high and wide is fine when its working against inferior sides or have the disposal of a strong line up but if not then you have to make a couple tweaks here and there if things aren't working well i.e going with a 3-2 or 3-1 build up or playing a standard formation without the symmetric stuff involved as it may suit the players skill sets well according to the opposition.

Leaving both full backs forward leaves their defence with too much space to cover out wide, and if there press is not good enough they pretty much in trouble with through balls in behind which is why Ange signed Micky VDV as he's is very quick but also injury prone, and even if they go into their rest defence they don't close down the spaces well and in turn leaves too much space for opposition attackers to face at goal like what we saw with Sancho as he had too much space to take the shot, no awareness to close him down and nor the first time Spurs have been poor at closing down attackers either.
But I suspect their defending deficiencies is down to concentration and how much physical effort they put in when they up the pitch, it's a very hard but taxing style if you don't have the squad depth or quality to hurt teams in the final third and with the premier league most have got the quality to punish your mistakes.

And a low key take and notice alot also is I don't think have an elite No.6 to play that way either the likes of Bissouma and Bentacour whom have struggled either in possession or out of it they are not Rodri let's just say that where he is king as a single pivot in both sides of the ball.

Its Ange ball in a nutshell but unless they can get their best players back and refusing to adjust then I cant see this experience ending well sadly.

adjusting to the situation isn't just about the opposition either, Ange refuses to adjust his tactics to the strengths, and more importantly the weaknesses of his playing squad
The thing is can change your tactics without comprising your style of football, its an underrated skill as a coach I guess.

Spurs have a fairly decent squad and with one of the best stadiums in Europe plus what is regarded as the best training ground in the Premier League would be a club any manager would want to be at.

I'm sure Rodgers would feel that he could pick them up off the floor and make big improvements to their performances.

Didnt seem to be many managers lining up at the Spurs front office to submit a resume last time.... you reckon they will now?
