The Ange at Tottenham Thread

Very disappointed in Ange. It’s unbelievable that he’s managed to turn Tottenham into the 4th worst team in the league. They’re so predictable and so easy to play against. I had a lot of sympathy during the injury crisis, but they haven’t really improved at all since. There’s just no possible excuse for losing so much.

I was convinced Ange would do well at Spurs. It seemed a good fit. Sad it turned out like this. Now I’m forced to acknowledge we’ve severely overrated him.

6th worst :)
I never expected him to get results as he did in the 2 previous leagues, they are minnows to EPL.
He got his dream gig as it would be for countless budding coachs around the globe.
Its game on no matter who you face week to week compared to those leagues as is normal for any newbie to the big dance.
It just wasn't meant to be after the 1st season start honeymoon.
I'm sure he has learnt a hell of alot more than he has over the last 10yrs - I hope he sees that and takes the lessons he has learnt to his next gig whereever it maybe.

This video convinced me why Ange Postecoglou's system is not sustainable at Premier League level.

I have long held that two seasons in a row where Tottenham has had massive injury problems, is not a coincidence. It is a consequence of Ange's system. I assume that the pace of the Premier League is far higher than the Scottish League or the J-League, so Ange's methods places far greater strain on the PL players.

After yesterday's loss to Wolves, I'm not holding my breath for the 2nd Europa leg against Frankfurt, and think it's a done deal that Ange will be sacked soon - whether that's before or at the end of the current season, I don't know. Tottenham might want to get the new manager in place before their Summer transfer window, for the new manager to influence selection of new players.

apparently the cause of the Maddison-Ange bust up was Ange called Maddison a show pony for not tracking back and Maddison responded with "It's better than being a one trick pony"

If this Maddison-Ange quote is true ... and who really knows ... but if it is true, that Maddison, a vice-captain, can say that to Ange in front of the team, then Ange has lost the locker room, and it's countdown to when he will be sacked.

If Tottenham lose to Frankfurt tomorrow and crash out of the Europa League, I'd expect Ange's pink slip to be delivered with little delay.

We can then re-name this thread to The Ange, Where Next Thread

I cannot see him getting a top manager post in any of the big leagues again.

He won't, the big leagues by and large are recruiting the next gen of coaches.

Ange is part of the old guard.

I expect him to retire but happy to be proven wrong.

Well, don’t think it’s plainly ol skool.
Stepping into the most competitive league even catch’s out the next gen it’s that competitive stepping into there.
Look he has lost more games than you can poke a stick at - my spurs following son just mentioned last night he lost more games than Pochs tenure but the EPL has stepped up since then.
He sure has read games wrong and also starting line ups questions and every single game is like a final for every single point counts there is no let up.
Not defending his for he has screwed up but so have many others just last season and the one before the amount of sackings.
It was his moment just to do well and be stable but he’ll pay the price and can’t see him in a top flight gig again but good luck to him - he’s been and done it and I would hope learns a lot in hindsight for I agree reckon he’ll still have the fire just do it better level below of wherever.

A famous victory in Frankfurt. Frankfurt with an abundance of chances but good saves and close misses. Spurs with their own decent territory and chances too.

The penalty was perhaps bit dubious but I felt the keeper was poorly timed despite only having eyes on the ball. The distance to the ball must have convinced the ref.

The Spurs players really fought today. Shades of the Asian Cup final in how spent both teams were.
