Where the hell is Alex Lee these days??? The kid won best youth player last year then scored in the Australia Cup. Doesn't seem to be in our youth squad this season either. Would be great to know how we lost a top prospect.

He was in Slovenia for a few months but is now back at victory.

But yeah he wasn’t even playing NPL first team before he left.

Oh wow, how did you find that out? All I could find on the Google's was he's in the Victory NPL 2025 squad but hasn't played a single minute.

I saw a tweet about it and his transfermarkt page has his move to Slovenia as well.

But like I said, he’s back at Victory playing in their NPL U23’s and last year he played U18 and U23’s. He’s never played an NPL first team game

Starting and depth at number 9 looking like a sourse of frustration this upcoming season, Vergos underwhelming for a foreign spot, Reec I have not seen pulling up any trees even at NPL level, Lazarevski probably has an opportunity and in the mix.

Second week the Victory coach has been spotted in the stands at a South match sussing out players...... hands off muchacho!!!!!!!!!
I guess this is the part where the New Dawner cynics go “Of course a Greek-heritage coach would be scoping out his own people”…

In all seriousness though, I agree it is weak-sauce poaching NPL players for the relative heck of it. Surely there are lowered-tier clubs w/prodigious(relatively-speaking anyway) youngsters that he could inconvenience instead..

Tall AF order from where I’m standing, but we’ll see.
Yep, MV are in that crappy position in which they have lost a number of key players across all thirds of the park.
It's the type of situation that ends coaches in the A-League. I worry Diles may be in way over his head and will get found out. Hope I'm wrong, but he's definitely got his work cut out for him.

The coaching merry-go-round of the last year or so’s been a particular shemozzle. Kisnorbo should’ve never gotten the gig in the first place, much less Diles been his successor.

Credit where credit is due, after Kisnorbo left and Diles was promoted I thought for sure we'd miss finals. The fact that we made the GF and only lost by a goal is a very respectable effort. Although I'm not sold on Diles, I reckon he has earned the opportunity to have a crack. That being said, if we a floundering at the bottom of the table come January, then he needs to go.

Have to say overall that I don't feel any excitement for the upcoming season. It's shaping as yet another grind for financial survival. I'm hoping for a couple of exciting young players to break through and give us all something to feel optimistic about.

My daughter had a Aus football shirt on, some Japanese bloke on the street in Tokyo stopped us and said 'Mitch Langerak just retired one hour ago' and showed us the Melbourne Victory instagram page, absolute spin out.
That’s the power of ⚽️. AFL types boast of similar interactions when o/s(there was a BS meme to this effect doing the rounds on AFL Twitter a few years back)...but how can it ever possibly compare when in their case it’s always w/fellow 🇦🇺-expats❓
