What football podcasts/shows do you usually watch?

Just did my annual re-watch of Ted Lasso again. Really hope they stump for a Season 4.

As for Youtube, I've actually just made myself a YouTube account (which I'll eventually upload FIFA/FM crap to) thats subbed to all the football channels (and a few select FIFA/FM channels).
That reminds me - I need to finish off my “Socceroos World Cup” playthrough of the old FIFA games I’ve been recording

For a bloke who enjoys squid game am I not surprised of this.
It was brilliant and as any series lose’s its charm a little and plot much later in the series not after 1.
Agree, second season was bearable but stopped watching soon after...
Season Two wasn't as good as the first, but the third season is quite entertaining. The entire Zava arc is hilarious. Little things like the avocado etc.
Lol c'mon man everyone enjoys squids games one of the most popular shows on Netflix ever.
Season Two of Squid Games was rushed and would have benefited from an extended second season rather than splitting one season over two seasons.

Loved Ted Lasso - had to buy the shirt too ;)

Agreed re: Squid Games - from what I hear, sounds like Netflix made that decision, rather than the creators.

When I finish my 1998 World Cup (including qualifiers!) I'll post for all to see!

I'm about three years late to this, only just watched it. Massive discussion on a wide range of Australian football issues. 99% of it still relevant today. If you've seen it what are your thoughts?

Fuck this is why the npl vs a league is a stupid argument when football as a whole is losing mainstream appeal

Away.days and stuntpegg are great on YouTube. If anything similar that's worth checking out?

I’ve listened to that a-league off air podcast for the first time, I personally found it annoying with the swearing but also they were talking down the aleague as well which weird given they are commentators in aleague games.

oh really. What were they saying?

Instead of taking about the quality of the goals from the round they were complaining about the poor defending, they even were complaining there is too many young players playing in the league and want more balance which I don’t know what they mean by that when most teams have tried to do that anyway.

Overall it was a weird listen and felt like a negative take on our league compared to other podcasts that I’ve listened to who were more positive.

yeah heard a few complain about that. FBK did too

I don't know, maybe some people want the a league to be like the premier league and be a destination league. But it would take a salar floor of 50 million to do that (not to mention better local players). The league in my opinion has been out of balance since 2002 and only just snapping back into balance. The pfa found that the minutes given to youth is a very similar fraction to what you see in belgium and the netherlands

do we want a good socceroos and a sustainable domestic league or do we want to continue 2 decades of mediocre player development

In my opinion for a podcast that has two Aleague commentators involved I expect better than that, disappointing they would talk down the aleague like that when the league is trying to grow an audience in a competitive sporting market.

I feel the aleague is going with developing young players is the right strategy and should have been the focus awhile back given the clubs can be financially more sustainable by developing and selling players but to say that the clubs don’t care about winning trophies is disrespectful and lacks context given the clubs financials.

And ultimately the biggest beneficiaries in all this is the Socceroos and Matilda’s who represent us on the international stage so I don’t know why I would be a bad thing in the first place for the league to go into this direction and ultimately it gives the league a purpose to what it can stand for.

in fact even the a league will be higher quality in a couple of years, not just the bank balance and the roos. That 2nd tier of players who end up too good for the a league but not good enough for a euro move will end up than the typical journeymen we get.

You see in most leagues around the world - play a few youngsters before they are ready and some will be key players for the club finances and some will be key players in the future. Rinse and repeat and you start to improve the league which leads to a virtuous cycle of better transfers and better players

Sorry to rant, but another thing

which teams start the most u21s and which start the most over 21s and where are they on the ladder? There is no evidence that youth are causing teams to tank

by this metric, the old teams are auckland, macarthur, jets, roar and perth. One of those are good but the rest are some of the weaker teams in the league

And have a bigger player pool as a process.
