Correct, no dual citizenship, seems like maybe he doesn't realise this.I haven’t checked but, from memory the Chinese laws would mean he would have to renounce his Aussie citizenship to play for them?
Yes, the interesting thing is that Drew is also top of the assists so far this year, so he is putting himself forward for the call up. Certainky deserves a place in the squad.View attachment 851
Next window of qualification id rather have a guy who's scoring regularly in an A League than guys who barely score for their club like Duke or Yengi.
In short period 2 games I think confidence is more important. Good example is Duke who came back to national team and forgot how to score a goal.
Another assist from Drew tonight!Yes, the interesting thing is that Drew is also top of the assists so far this year, so he is putting himself forward for the call up. Certainky deserves a place in the squad.
I would laugh if Stefan Mauk is picked in the squad, as he is one of the most likely to be carded by Asian refs, though he has had ahabit of scoring crucial goals for Adelaide this season. Still, stranger things have happened under Poppa, viz Brattan.
I’ve been really impressed with him this season. He’s really stepped up his game and looked very dangerous moving forward and is much more solid defensively. He’s one of the main leaders at the Jets and he’s contributed a lot to their best moments. He’s a much more natural fullback than Miller. He’s got a good balance of strength and speed and his crossing this season has been on point. I can see him doing well in Europe, heading across as a slightly later bloomer like Mooy. He’s one of the standout fullbacks in the league this season, so I’d be keen to see what he can do with better players around him.![]()
A Scottish icon called this young Aussie 'a coach's dream'. He's now showing why
Thomas Aquilina continues to be a shining light for Newcastle Jets. aleagues.com.au looks at the numbers behind the exciting full-back.aleagues.com.au
Anyone had a good look at Aquilina?
im talking about Archie Goodwin, Botic, Segecic or even Taggart from domestic over Duke. We seriously need a striker.Yes, the interesting thing is that Drew is also top of the assists so far this year, so he is putting himself forward for the call up. Certainky deserves a place in the squad.

Cheers, will put in some time into watching him on and off the ball when I get a chance.I’ve been really impressed with him this season. His development actually reminds me of Nisbet. When I first saw Nisbet playing, he never stood out to me as a top player. He was always consistent and solid. It was over the following few seasons that he really developed into a standout. I see a similar thing with Aquilina.
I agree Mauk is a long shot, but as I alluded to re Brattan, stranger things have happened in Poppa's selection processes. Mauk is one of the few midfielders in the A League that is contributing goals.im talking about Archie Goodwin, Botic, Segecic or even Taggart from domestic over Duke. We seriously need a striker.
Dew is a winger and Mauk is AM. No room for them.
Of course Mauk is going to be picked ahead of Triantis or Balard.I agree Mauk is a long shot, but as I alluded to re Brattan, stranger things have happened in Poppa's selection processes. Mauk is one of the few midfielders in the A League that is contributing goals.
Do u have the article?Of course Mauk is going to be picked ahead of Triantis or Balard.
Article midweek so stale that the Robertson situation 'hasn't changed' neither side has zero will to get papers sorted and he surely doesn't want to play either.
ABC news. I believe it was something of a collective chat with Popovic this week, unless Vince Rugari sat with him one on one for the Arzani spray. Popa comments have been distributed across media channels this week.Do u have the article?
Another reliable and more analytical source.I think it was Joey Lynch writing for ESPN. He was quoting (or maybe paraphrasing) from the Popovic press conference mid week.
