It's strange to me how their default reaction is to reject it and hope everyone gets converted to A-league fans.

Thats what I mean though, I used to get paid to write this type of crap back in uni :ROFLMAO:

To me, it's just football. Let the football football, if people want to support the game, go out to matches. To me, I find it hard that people aren't already going either that be a club in the NPL or A-league.

Hope, the increase of crowds in Australian Championships isn't just trend, ultimately most of the clubs, this includes A-league and NSL are just trends for 90% of people. It's only the minority like us that stick around and make the clubs, feel and have the community of an actual club.

I hope so. TBH I would like all football to be played February/March start with a November Australia Cup Final to finish the season.
 
Another option for pyramid structure changes is to straight out copy the NBL One zones. The numbers stack up, it is by far the cheapest option that’s I’ve simulated of merged federations, and efficiently weeds out a few of the lower feds (sorry!).

Basically, Victoria and Tasmania merge to make NPL South, and NSW, NNSW and ACT merge to make NPL East. Chances are there would be little to no Tassie teams able to compete at that level with the Vics, so the NPL South will pretty much be Vic teams, in other words, the same cost as NPL Vic. Same thing for the NPL East. If one or two ACT or NNSW are good enough to compete with NSW, then those costs would be absolutely minimal, a bus trip.

This gets us down to five regions. Two from each (10) to playoffs. Two groups of five compete, then 1st plays 2nd from the other group for two promotion spots. Or we could also include two clubs from the relegation zone in the Championship, creating two groups of six or three groups of four (depending on how much we want to spend).

Anyway, it seems a good way to smooth the regions in the pyramid a little from 9 > 1 to 5 > 1. There are a lot more options for merging feds into conferences, again it just depends how much cashola is available to run it.

But why reinvent the wheel? NBL One have done the work (as have I haha), it's a disconnected second tier with MUCH more travel than our leagues would have. NBL Queensland includes Darwin, Mackay, Rockhampton, Cairns and Townsville. NBL NSW includes Canberra, Newcastle, Albury. NBL Victoria includes Hobart, Ulverstone and Mount Gambier. NBL WA includes Geraldton and Kalgoorlie.

I really don’t understand how we can’t afford a proper pyramid. How are these other Australian national leagues surviving? AIHL and AWIHL ice hockey, ABL baseball, AHCC handball, AVSL volleyball, WNBL basketball, WNCL cricket, SRW union, H1 hockey etc… some of these even include international teams from NZ and Fiji!

How can we not afford it? Does soccer just have the worst financial planners employed?

The only difference is the formation and license period no?

Let's say Sydney Olympic go under, is it on the other clubs and organisation to try save them, can the organisation try strip the AC license to ensure owner doesn't go bonkers?

I think it's a positive imo if there is money being thrown around. Why is this an offensive word in Australia?

Nah I don't mean "fit" as in clean air between leagues. I mean they start one after another. E.g.NPL starts late Feb/early March, Championship starts late May/early June, and A-League starts late August/early Sept.

This gives enough rest breaks and preparation time between divisions for clubs that are promoted or relegated.

If the Championship aligns with either NPL or A-League, a fully connected pyramid won't be feasible as it would lead to clubs that are promoted and relegated having to take entire seasons off due to league start/finish dates. I wrote about it here a few weeks ago.

The Championship, beyond this year, will align with the NPL and grassroots football ie: February to September. When it comes time to integrate the A-League into the pyramid adjustments will have to be made.
It’s a start but there’s still a long way to go.

I certainly hope this is how it ends up for both the Championship and the ALM. It would certainly help with the alignment to AFC competitions so that Australian teams aren't playing a number of AFC games in their pre-season .

Assuming they both end up at 14 teams we could run February through to a mid November Australia Cup final.

While FA might not 'control' the ALM rolling the Championship in with the Socceroo and Matilda media deals will provide an incentive for the ALM to fall in line for a complete package.

Once again - assuming a P+ / 10 Play / FTA 10 mix we could end seeing somewhere between 4 and 8 live FTA games (out of 14) each weekend with all games on whichever streaming choice.

This would be the ideal scenario but, as always, easy to see but hard to achieve.😏

Thankfully yes, we wholeheartedly agree on that.. but dont get confused, I sure as fuck dont want to know u in the least!

What i do know though, is this:
1. You are not unique, you are the epitome of most die hard franchise followers, all the way down to spinning the same crap to hide their deepest fears. (You know what im referring to!)
2. The less ppl like you are involved in this the better for all.. more than happy for YOU and your cohorts to stay on your side of the fence and me on mine!

Dont let the fear set in, but then again you can always play that "secondary card" of yours when times get tough!

I saw that article and facepalmed. There's no need for it. We've moved on. We're moving forward. A "Eurosnob" or NSL fan isn't going to read that and think, "You know what, they're absolutely correct". I can't imagine what's inspired them to write that. Maybe they deal with snobs every day, who knows haha.
