A-league attendances 24/25

Despite the knockers among the old NSL tragics - mono increasingly sounds like a looped recording of a child banging a tin can - there is no comparison between the A League is now and the NSL, where even the A League's reduced attendances would be a hopeful fantasy.

Good on them. Why have you posted this? Part of your plan of small-minded subversion?
I think it's interesting to cross reference the crowd figures for a silly nonsense sport like 20/20 cricket played in Brisbane against the crowd figures for the A League franchise competition in Brisbane.

BBL

Brisbane Heat v Sydney Sixers - 30,122

$10 dollar tickets and free for under 15 I believe. Not a great comparison.

A-League clubs often have half price deals, but they're largely hidden to the public and only visible to the already rusted on fans. Whereas the Aus vs India test have been plugging these cheap/free BBL tickets all day all week. The power of media.

While we're on media, they're bloody disgraceful. The sports reports on the weekend spent about three minutes just on American NFL and darts. DARTS FFS! And not a single mention of our Australian league.

Well it's a great comparison because the BBL is the only other team sport the A League franchise competition is up against.

There's no 'football' codes being played in the spring/ summer.

The A League franchise competition could makes their tickets $5 and I doubt they would improve their numbers much.

I fail to see your point. How is this illuminating in any way, other than demonstrating that you have nothing better to do?

Geez mate, using "franchise" every opportunity you get is a bit childish. You sound like Mike. I see you don't call BBL the BBL franchise. Move on mate, we see it.

Might as well rebrand roar to Queensland Roar & take their home games around the state. What have they got to lose at this point.
I'd go further. I'd revoke their franchise license and put the original Queensland Lions club in their place as Lions FC. They'd get bigger crowds and they have a home stadium that they could easily develop into a 10,000+ capacity ground.

Perfect for the A League franchise competition.

Although there are one or two deluded souls who think the Roar franchise and Lions FC are the same entity......

That's a good point. They were only renamed because Gold Coast and Fury entered.

They'll probably wait now and see what happens with the next expansions.
Oh I see, that in a big part explains now why Bris Roar are struggling, they were meant to be rivals with GC. Take GC away and & they're suddenly quite isolated.

Its never been about anyone to argue with although the "us vs all of you" mentality allows for even more devotion to our team in truth and thats part of real football culture.. ntohing wrong with that.

Yes you did say we shouldve been in, and nonone doubted that, but in a similar underhanded way as the so called "aleague purists" , you continue to regurgitate the same "lies and slander" of those "we fixed all things soccer" sycophants that still see the problem as laying with "those teams and those people" depsite all the truth pointing to the contrary...

Thats the crux of all of it, its nothing to do with envy (maybe at some point initially it was, but that has loooong passed), now it may have developed into hatred given the means and measures from David Hill onwards that eventually culminated in the franchise league...

Now it needs to become about the right steps and drastic changes needed for the game to finally get to a point to live up to its potential, and like it or not we all have to do our part without exclusions, with pro/rel, etc... after all we all agree that both the bsl and the aleague have been failures for mostly the same reasons and some not so similar!
Bloody well said mate.

I’m sorry Ross got rejected in 2018. Anything else you want from me? I’ve said multiple times South Melbourne should have been allowed in the league and would be a great addition. Ever thought that you guys just need someone to argue with?
No mate, believe it or not the "argument" isnt fun anymore... Its been 20 years.... Ive only been online for 4, others have been fighting this thing for 20 goddamn years.... 1 million times explaining to people too full of hate at something they no nothing about that:

YES we could raise the money (apart from the very start of the Aleague when even Melbourne Victory didnt have "the money")
YES we have a lease on our own stadium with seats and lights and change-rooms and corporate boxes that's better than/equal to 3-4 of the other Aleague clubs
YES we have junior development squads down to miniroos for and have ALWAYS done so
YES we have pride and passion in our club and in our history of being founded by migrants to this new land
YES we are proudly Australian and have represented our nation both in Oceania AND Club World Cup

There is a reason why South Melbourne FC was and will never be allowed to have a license in the Aleague (and thank Christ we no longer need nor want one) ... its written in the very fibres of a very bitter angry little man, and his pitch to the new dawn....

If you believe that 3-4 thousand was a hopeful fantasy for a competition that ended 20 years ago then, frankly speaking, you are a bit of a ignoramus....

Not sure what format you have that recording of the child banging the tin can but maybe either delete the file or burn the cd ...
