A-league attendances 24/25

I'm curious. How many on here also actively follow an AFL and/or NRL team? I'm defining "actively follow" as someone who is either a member or attends at least half of the home games and watches regularly on TV. Part two of the question is if both your teams were playing on the same day which do you choose?
Me personally, I don't follow any AFL or NRL teams. I go to MV games with three other mates, none of which actively follow (as defined above) an AFL or NRL team. I also have a few mates who are MC members. One of them actively follows Hawks but is not a member.

yep with you someguyfc.
Being Sydney re NRL.
I only keep tabs on the scores and whats going on, haven't been to a game for 20yrs at least for eg and IF I did it was only because nothign else was on, have never been a active goer to games in my life.
Football runs my/our life.
Obviously have utterly no interest in afl.
My sense's over the years on the forum there is more afl fans from the south that would hedge their bets where they go.

By your definition of "actively follows" Im not even a "casual observer" Will catch the match on TV if I remember or I'm home but absolutely NOT let it get in the way of football.. Never have, never will.

Will drive to watch Hellas play a friendly if its on at the same time as a Richmond Grand final....

There are definitely some that would have to toss up going to AFL rather than football... depending on the game... This was always the case, even during the old NSL summer days....

Question is how many? My observation in Melbourne is that with football fans (A-L or NPL), if they also follow AFL they are more often than not just a casual AFL supporter. They will keep tabs on results, watch some AFL games on TV but very rarely go to a game. Whereas with football they will go to a lot of football games, watch all the away games on TV and also keep up to date with at least one international league (eg: EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga, etc).

Yeah, from my acquaintance group I would say the same... Everybody has an AFL club they "support" but its confined to maybe 1-2 matches a year at best.. the rest is football and more football...

In saying that its hard to quantify.. Carlton v Collingwood on a Friday night played at the same time as a NPL match sees a dip in attendance for us but coming of such a low attendance base recently anyway its hard to tell if its because more are at the footy or watching the match at home on youtube :)

You know what I mean I just enjoy the football that and beating Peppa pig in the ratings
Mate if you wanna enjoy a sport that is popular and you chose "soccer" on your cencus card in THIS country then ...... hahaha don't know what to tell ya... You're either born 150 years to early or delusional.... hahahahaha

christ I had to look up peppa the pig ffs - no wonder ratings suck on p+ for the apl haha I see why millenials are confused.
These days your enjoyment of something is based on what a whole bunch of strangers on the internet think about it as well.... It really is a strange approach to life....

I attend both Rugby league and Football. They NEVER clash, as both play out of the same ground.
yes that true Sutho but the question is - what IF APL was played in winter then there would be clashing, which would you pick to attend for eg ?
Obviously NRL would take precedence of your home ground then what where would the SFC game be held and would you go to your SFC game even though your fav NRL clash was Easts vs Rabbits for eg ?

My brother I would watch soccer even if my team loses every match. Me and others on this forum and the millions and Millions on Twitter reddit what the game to be how it was in the early 2010s.

We might not get there but I'm just enjoying watching the games

You would not get both games at the same stadium on the same day.

Easts and the Waratahs do NOT get preference at Allianz.

It happened once at Kogarah and i went to both games, one at 3.00pm and one at 7.30pm at the SCG. A good few jars consumed that day !

Ofcourse there will be dip in crowds due to the many more in melb then syd bris who are supporters of the other codes.
I see this is good it draws a line in the sand for our game.
We then see who are the true game devotee of the apl.
As for grounds yep those who are locked in to those over sized stands used by the other codes surface will be effected to a degree and fixture dates.
Agree 100%. I am completely over this inferiority complex football has in this country, running scared from the other codes. Its demeaning and embarrassing. Bring on the line in the sand.
