The surface is effected either way. Play in Winter and it could be a little rough from the Rugby at some venues (not all). Play in the Summer and we get hard pitches with the top surface drenched just before a game. Which there seems to be a correlation between the Summer pitches and soft tissue injuries in the A-League. Neither is good, but all things considered I reckon overall Winter is the least worst option. In Winter games can be scheduled any time of the day, whereas Summer we are limited to late afternoon and evening. As for grounds yep those who are locked in to those over sized stands used by the other codes surface will be effected to a degree and fixture dates.
