That's a shame I suppose the cricket took away peopleRatings took a massive dive this round, down 70%
SEVEN’S CRICKET: FIFTH TEST – AUSTRALIA V INDIA D2 S3 Seven 3,051,000
SEVEN’S HORSE RACING NIGHT 2025 Seven 1,433,000
2025 UNITED CUP D9 -NIGHT Nine 1,387,000
PEPPA PIG ABC KIDS PM 70,000
FOOTBALL: ISUZU UTE A-LEAGUE 10 41,000
The A League franchise competition really knows it's place in the Australian sports hierarchy.....
10Bold is a secondary FTA channel. The A League franchise competition can't be happy about being shunted along to where the graveyard repeat shows are broadcast.....That number is the total reach for people aged 16-39 watching on Ten Bold.
Should the "Melbourne derby" backyard cricket be in there?Ratings took a massive dive this round, down 70%

Not really. The thread is completely dumb anyway. Unless you're going to give the full tv audience including those that are watching on paramount plus. It's pointless just giving the 10Bold 18-39 figure. You are dumbing down this thread mate.
Not as dumb as some !Not really. The thread is completely dumb anyway. Unless you're going to give the full tv audience including those that are watching on paramount plus. It's pointless just giving the 10Bold 18-39 figure.
And because like a lot of streaming services, paramount dont officially divulge those numbers watching live on their platform you're never going to get a true reflection of the A League franchise competition's popularity as an actual tv product.
FWIW I think the number who watch on paramount is also pretty low and probably <100K but nobody can be sure.
But let's be honest here the A League franchise competition doesn't make compelling tv. It's a third rate football competition that doesn't get a lot of traction with people who are not 'rusted on' Australian soccer fans. Anyone who thinks otherwise is completely deluded.
As usual Hellenic man has....So what im to gather from all this is that we are all happy with the ratings!! You bc it shows how "successful" the aleague continues to be (as you try to convince us), and WE, bc it shows the exact opposite (as we continue to point out) ..
Bat makes a valid point though which you cant easily dismiss, you will be in a world of shock come new agreement time with those figures, but then there will be no one to blame, bc they "mainstream figures" right there!!!![]()
There will be But it's going to a lot less than what you've been getting. We need good TV ratings or we can kiss the next TV deal goodby. Thats if there is a next TV deal??.
The A Leagues appeal to younger audiences. They rarely watch on normal TV. Unless we know Paramount figures (which will also advertise Channel 10 shows) we don't know anything. I have no doubt that the streams are doing exponentially better than the terrestrial TV figures show.We need good TV ratings or we can kiss the next TV deal goodby. Thats if there is a next TV deal??.
but a normal TV partner will also be needed....
Why the fuck are you even on here? There are only 3 commercial channels that can fund a professional level sports competition in terms of a viable TV deal.
Ch9 are extremely well funded for these kind of sports rights acquisitions and like CBS/Ch10 also have a premium streaming service in place which isn't averse to buying broadcast rights for football.
CH7 has already dipped its toe in the water with it's acquisition of the women's WC.
So.all 3 FTA commercial TV companies could potentially be in the running.
But I'm pretty convinced that neither Ch9 or Ch7 would take a reasonable look at acquiring the A League franchise competition. And that's because they would be looking at Ch10 as the canary in the coal mine.and the performance of the A League franchise competition as a viable proposition to bring in viewers. It's bums on sofas, eyes on screens that the advertising industry will want to be sure of.....
So.I think that Ch10 will be there again on reduced terms. Maybe as much as a 30% reduction in broadcast rights money......
The point I made was about streaming being where the numbers will come from - but you need a FTA service to increase visibility. Could end up being a SBS or ABC/DAZN or SBS or ABC/Optus deal. In the medium term I suspect all Socceroos/Matildas/ALM/ALW/NST will end up on the same streaming/FTA partners - just don't hold your breath. There are only 3 commercial channels that can fund a professional level sports competition in terms of a viable TV deal.
