Australian Dual Nationals 🇦🇺🏳️

Didn’t he get called up to one of the under age teams a couple of years ago but pulled out because he felt more Irish or something. I can’t remember all the details.
Yep I believe so. Was the U17s about 5 years ago. He is 22 now and was just released from Blackburn

Some younger players who are Australian dual nationals and should be considered for youth national teams include:
  • Delano Cecchi (2008) – Plays for Sampdoria U18.
  • Alexander Xie (2007) – Plays for Stuttgart U19; born in Australia to Chinese parents.
  • Samuel Okolie (?) – Plays for Cambridge United U18; born in Australia and has recently been selected for Seychelles.
Another player that is a bit older is Melos Bajrami who holds an Australian passport and previously represented Kosovo at U21 level.

Added to the OP.

Alex Robertson enjoying the off season on Bondi Beach on Instagram....hopefully some conversations with Popa on his return from the Middle East are planned....
He was training with Segacic for a couple of weeks, before he went to Portsmouth

His situation completely confuses me. He seems to see himself as Australian, but it's still unclear to me whether there's a FIFA paperwork issue involved in playing for the national team or if he's simply waiting to see how his career unfolds waiting for a better option.

I feel like Robertson wanted to establish himself at a decent club level without the burden of international football, considering his injury issues. Also, something seemed to happen between him and Arnie. I hope he circles back to the national team.

And I found some more

And I found some more

These are nice finds. Dont know if any would strengthen our first xi

A couple of new names I believe...
Antonio Rizzo (2005) - Vis Pescaro, Italy
Kristijan Kero (2005) - HNK Mravince, Croatia
Luka Zurkic (2007) - FK Brodarac, Serbia
Any getting game time?

Quick question. Does anyone know much about Cillian Tollett? He is a 17 forward that has been representing the Ireland U17/U18 national team. He plays his club football for Galway United. Was in the squad 22 times for the seniors last season, making 11 appearances.
I have seen him listed as a dual national.

Yes. His dad is Tulsen Tollett, ex-NRL player. Tulsen was born in England but moved to Australia as a kid. Cillian was born in Ireland. That means that unless Cillian lives here for 4-5 years, he is ineligible to play for Australia, even though he has an Australian passport.

I don't believe you have the procedures correct. If he held dual citizenship before he played youth football for Ireland he can switch allegiance without the residential requirements. It all depends on if one of Cillian's parents was a holder of Australian Citizenship when he was born. If he isn't entitled to Australian Citizenship by birthright, then his dual eligibilty may only be for Ireland or England.

His dad was born in England without Australian citizenship. Cillian was born overseas. If you weren't born in Australia, and none of your parents/grandparents were - you can't play for Australia - even as a citizen, unless you live in Australia for 4-5 years continuously. Same situation with Jason Vescan-Kodor and Noah Clement.

Thanks for the info. It's clear from your comment that he isn't currently Australian and doesn't fulfil the requirements for birthright citizenship and would need to fulfil both Australian requirements for citizenship and FIFA requirements to play for us as you mentioned. It's different if he was entitled to birthright citizenship. In recent times we've had a couple of internationals picked in Socceroo squads before they ever set foot in the country but they had birthright citizenship as they had an Australian parent. There are different FIFA rules for naturalised dual citizenship compared to dual citizenship by birth eg Martin Boyle, Harry Souttar.
