Australian transfers 24-25 winter

G’day. Long term reader. First time poster.

If the current economic trends continue globally, the US dollar is gaining strength meaning that the MLS will be increasingly be able to afford better players. This happening while Europe’s economic outlook is looking really weak. The top European clubs funded by big money will still be able to buy top players but mid Euro teams and leagues will have less punch from their currency.

Long story short you are gonna see more Aussie players go to MLS rather than Scotland, EFL, Belgium etc
Welcome to the forum, Somebloke.

Rather than see Aussies in Belgium than MLS.

Although it could be better than Scotland, where we've seen many Aussies stagnate.

because there is p&r in scotland and no p&r in the mls, football fans can judge it harshly, but I agree it is better than the mls for development and they have managed some genuinely impressive transfers out of their league.

It isn't another money league like china or saudi where there a lot of transfers in and no transfers out, but a league that can add value to players

Mike Williamson at Carlisle signing some Newcastle pkayers with his connections. A Kuol loan would be great.

Pat Wood to Perth on loan has finally been confirmed while Mo Al-Taay has left Wellington. He is rumoured to be joining WSW till the end of the season and then going to Iraq next season.

Perth signed Lachie Wales, Yuta Misao and Takuya Okamoto yesterday. Wales seems to be an upgrade on Caicedo for sure while Misao seems to be bought in to play left back which surely spells the end of Anas Hamzaoui at the club. Okamoto seems to be a right back who can play wing or centre back when needed. I personally don't think it's a good use of a visa spot to use on a squad player when other positions are screaming out for some more quality.

Western Sydney signed Carluccio which seems a little odd given they have a lot of depth in the positions he plays already. Having said that, Ben Holliday is rumoured to be on the way out.

Carluccio takes Beadling's spot, but essentially is the replacement for Dylan Scicluna
Gersbach to strengthen left-back

Carluccio and Beadling aren't remotely similar players. Al-Taay is supposedly the Scicluna replacement

Jaushua Sotirio has signed for Sydney until the end of the season as a replacement for Pat Wood

I was on that forum but posted under a different name. Had Mo Toure as my profile pic from memory.

I'm talking about Steven Hall.
Ahh right I forgot about him, apologies.

You’ve also helped me remember that CCM recently did the same with selling Pavlesic to Bayern.

For some reason it feels different / more normal when it’s selling a young promising academy GK vs a 27-year old #2 GK.

The MLS will be a better league than Belgium very soon if it isn't already. The U22 initiative has allowed clubs to focus on recruiting elite young talent from outside the US. More of the top junior American athletes are now playing football. Academies like Philadelphia Union, LA Galaxy, NYCFC, NYRB and Barca Residency are now regularly beating top 20 European academies - this will translate to more elite American players coming through. The World Cup will also provide a huge boost for US football. It's a good place for our players to land. The below chart shows the relative strength of the MLS compared to the Belgian top flight.

Adelaide have Dutch defender Daan Klomp on trial. He most recently played in Canada where he won the CPL best defender award in 2023 and 2024 whilst also winning the CPL player of the year award in 2023.

Could be a very shrewd signing for us given we lack depth in defence.
