General 2024/5 A League Men's thread

Well do Adelaide's owners care about them winning the league? They were second and haven't got any investment it's actually quite likely none of the owners give a shit about winning the league (no prize money) and just want to make money from selling young guns
Adelaide have a good youth system in place and it shows with there younger players going overseas, Also CCM have proven you dont need to spend money to win titles.

There are certainly a lot of young strikers doing well in the AL.

In the 25-35 yo age group there are hardly any. Hence, so many experienced imported strikers are recruited.

Botic has started scoring regular goals for WU. He reminds me of Maclaren. That is in the sense that he is a striker who scores a lot of goals finishing off his teammates' good work, by being on the end of sequences of attacking interplay. He scores a lot of easy goals, from being in good positions from anticipating the ball ahead of play. Botic doesn't tend to score spectacular goals from difficult positions.

Sadly, Maclaren didn't step up at international level given his club scoring form, like Scott McDonald. I hope Botic can.

Will also depend on whether we lob the ball high to the forwards or we keep it low. I think he prefers the ball on the ground rather than coming overhead.

How the fuck has Ruben even been considered for the Newcastle job what a joke to interview him

Looks like Newcastle are signing Milligan as the manager so be interesting how he goes

yes he's got quite a bit of experience now, I'd also look into other NPL coachs, Zadko good luck to him but he's failed bigtime.

I hope when the championship becomes home and away the a league starts looking there for coaches rather than always looking at former players

Neither can I. What he has done under the circumstances has been astounding. You only need to look at BR & PG to see how bad it can get but NJ never plumbed those depths.
we'd take stanton in a heart beat. Perhaps we can have a coach swap

This season, more than others, I feel has gone for way too long.

There is so much apathy towards the league.

Just play everyone home and away and introduce another cup or trophy.
