Summer of Cricket thread

Wrist spinner, King, and finger spinner, Gardner, both getting a fair amount of turn.

Dunkley c and b King.

Just texted from Melb Members - King strikes again - 5-127.

In Galle, Usman /Inglis partnership now 92 runs.

Usman posts the biggest ever score by an Aussie in Sri Lanka and Australia the most ever runs in the Asian island. Century by Josh Inglis on debut too.

We were able to show intent and even be aggressive because their spin attack lacked the accuracy and penetration to build any lasting pressure. To be honest I think our attacking mindset shocked them.

would have been good to blood a youngster, whether mcsweeney or konstas
Yes, bit of a kick in the teeth for the young guy who almost single handedly won us the vital 4th India Test and probably the series too, due to his attacking mindset which spurred on some of our others to play the same way.

since we are qualified for the test world championship
Yes just about had George Bailey and Andrew MacDonald and their obsession with playing guys in their boys club with most now pushing 30 and over, ahead of the next gen like Konstas and McSweeney. Inglis was terrific and deserved his chance but whose to say how Konstas would have handled that spin attack. I reckon he'd have pulverized it.

I thought he was losing his hand eye.
He has reached another level with his positive spin play past two years, when for much of his career he played the spinning ball like a scared school boy. I used to equate his lack of footwork against the turning ball to someone trying to play cricket with their feet in a block of cement.

Inglis has a FC average of 37. Supposedly 50 in Shield last two years.
DC he has been under rated as a batsman. Kinda slipped between the cracks given how much white ball he has played. Started this years shield on fire with two centuries from only a few matches before he had to return to white ball duties.

He is declining against 150kph pace, but that's just age. Pointing was orthodox and declined against express pace. Youngsters and oldies can struggle against express pace
