Summer of Cricket thread

DC he has been under rated as a batsman. Kinda slipped between the cracks given how much white ball he has played. Started this years shield on fire with two centuries from only a few matches before he had to return to white ball duties.
I'm from the church of 40+ averages.

I don't put wait on form but getting that career average over 40. Perhaps he is blooded as carey's replacement? Or perhaps we have too few with that sort of average

Loved the reaction from Inglis' parents after he scored his maiden century on debut. Of the two his old man appeared the most animated compared to his wife who was more subdued. Prob shock tho.

But what dumb scheduling by probably a combo between the ICC and CA, of having both Tests clash. Just as well Network 7 replay their Test matches unlike its predecessor Nine.

Agree.

Managed to watch women's in SL tea break and lunch break.

Gee, King was bowling well. She and Gardner were getting a lot of turn.

Inglis batted superbly against spin. Nimble footwork.

Sri Lanka, what a waste of a test series.

Australia should just stick to playing South Africa, England, India & New Zealand when it comes to test match cricket.

So far thus does seem like a weaker SL team.

They did have some good players in the past Batsmen and Bowlers.

However, this is a venue where winning the toss almost guarantees a win.

Wait for 2 Tests to elapse. We won the first one pretty easily last time. Sri Lanka hammered us in the second.

I have thought we have been one of the worst teams in Asia.

I think we have done well at home, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, not too bad in England, to compensate. We won a hard fought 3 Test series 1-0 in Pakistan last time. The wickets were awful - hard to take wickets on , and hard to score runs on!

I'm loving the different wickets in SL. Love so many spinners bowling.

The pacemen don't have to bust a gut bowling long spells like in Aus, preserving their bodies. I'm really enjoying seeing Aus spinners operate on wickets that assist them. There is so much cricket per hour played, with the spinners having short run ups, and so little time between balls.

Nobody agrees with me off forum, but I'd love to see the ACT and the Northern T have two Shield teams. Many agree with the ACT concept, but not the Territory.

What I'd like to see is raging turners for wickets in both the ACT and the NT - Darwin in the drier season and Alice in the wet season. It would help us be more competitive in Asia. We now have 4-5 Asian opponents - India, Pakistan, SL, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

It was great when the SCG wicket used to spin, seam at the Gabba, bounce ans swing in WA.

Batsmen and bowlers experienced all conditions at Shield level.

We never had the low bounce of Asia or the seam of England, but it was a good apprenticeship for young players.

Tasmania’s left arm finger spinner, Kuhnemann, appears to be bowling a 3rd stump line. Just missed his second wicket. How?

Chandimal et al have scored at a reasonable clip today. I’m sure if they didn’t have the huge total to chase, with such scoreboard pressure, they look competitive.

Kuhnemann has also bowled some very long spells for Tas in the Shield this season. He is match-fit.

Chandimal now 62 off 113 balls. After a shaky start, he started using his feet and has looked in control in since. Also, he has used reverse sweep effectively.
