The Ange at Tottenham Thread

It was Liverpool. Everyone is getting destroyed by Liverpool. Spurs fans and the pundits have absolutely no ability to contextualise things properly.

Ange should move on. He'll be a success elsewhere. Yes, his brand of football means that there are chances they get opened up, but that's not something that simply gets fixed overnight. It takes time and having the right players.

Liverpool hadn't destroyed anyone in the league for a while. That first half an hour was as one sided as any away team in a premier league game you will see. Everyone said in the pregame that if Tottenham play that open, with the squad they have available, that Liverpool will just destroy them. Why shouldnt Ange be expected to adapt?

Ange needs time, but he's not helping himself, the Chelsea game was worse than this as they were gifted a 2-0 lead and he left it as a manic end to end game, with a tired team, they deserved to concede 4 and lose for that. No Premier League manager is going to survive in the bottom half of the table for too long.

It happened against Chelsea too

Who have amassed 3 starting XI’s that would probably make the top 8, maybe even the top 6 in the Prem.

Ange has a credible top 6 starting XI and then the drop off is cannon fodder.

If Ange’s “Project” (hate that term), is going to be backed, it needs at least 2 starting XI’s of top European talent augmented with an up and coming production line of youth talent.

There is no world where you can be competing for 4 competitions in Europe and your starting CB is an 18 year old central midfielder from The Championship and your other Central Midfield option is another 18 year old who played for some pub team in Sweden the year before.

Levy should have backed Ange in the summer with 3-4 Dom Solanke type aquisitions if he was serious about pushing on.

Instead they got Dom and a bunch of kids.

So why play that open against them after you are gifted a 2-0 lead? Ange still has to be smart and buy himself time, a win against Chelsea would have taken pressure off for quite a while.

They went 2-0 up and then had to sub off Romero who was injured for Dragusin who cannot break the line like Romero can, totally wrong profile of player for Ange’s system.

Sarr also hit the bar and Son missed a getable chance before half time when it was 2-1.

He did, Forster also made some big saves, Romero going off should be more reason to try and lock the game down and play on the counter.

If Ange’s desire is to win a European Cup or a more prestigious trophy than the SPL, visions need to be aligned.

Spurs have the $$$ to assemble one of the best squads in Europe, which is what Ange will need to be successful with his brand of football.

Yet, the chairman is a penny pincher who bought 1 proven player over the summer.

So can’t see him being a success elsewhere unless he’s at a club that has the capacity to outspend.
Ange has proven that he does not need to outspend, he just needs a chairman that is willing to open the chequebook when he says he needs a player, as opposed to being a penny pincher.

Chelsea are 2nd in the table and have been in pretty good form this season. Yes, Spurs are not consistent enough this season, but I don't think they can be when they have so many things not going in the same direction.

Destroying a team does not mean you have to be 3-0 up inside 20 minutes or something. You can be 1-0 up after 80 minutes and still have destroyed a team. Control the possession. Run them ragged. Give them no shots. Have about 15-20 of your own.

I'm not saying what Ange is doing is great, but we all know Ange Ball. We've all seen the success from it. Far too often managers are tasked with doing something, yet not given the tools nor the time to do it. It seems the only manager who can continually fail, and be praised is Arteta.
