The Ange at Tottenham Thread

Sentiment from most fans after the Newcastle game was they never gave up and there was a plan. Just a bit of end product not there. Credit to Newcastle also.

You've got to imagine these systems with a less injury ridden squad and quality depth and things will be looking up a lot more.

A keeper was signed today which is a minuscule start. Some loan recalls are possible. Decent signings needed. It's bare bones at the moment so some legs and maybe even a bit more rotation for the Tamworth game can rest the key players.

Bottom 3 out of established clubs in the league. Absolute dogshit.

That being said he doesn’t have the squad to scale his philosophy to the premier league.

Look what happened to Kompany and they sing from the same hymn sheet.

If Ange wants to salvage his tenure he needs to grab Levy by the balls and demand ready made talent to fill obvious gaps.

I hear they’ve signed a promising keeper from Slavia Prague whose good with his distribution which is a key to Ange’s build-up and Kolo Muani might be on his way too (although his form at PSG has not lived up to expectation)
Muani sounds promising if he can rediscover his form.

Ange's wage is so high so it's only Bayern, maybe Dortmund who would afford him but it'd be cool to see him take on the Schalke basket case. Heaven forbid a club like Wolfsburg or Hoffenheim.

Schalke were great in the early 2000’s as were Werder Bremen.

Shame what’s happened to both of those clubs, Schalke being far worse.

Injuries haven't helped this season, but if you take away the first 10 rounds of last season when Ange was in a honeymoon period, across the remaining 28 matches he finished 12W-4D-12L. Essentially, a mid-table team, with injuries not really an excuse. Add this season's 7W-3D-10L and excluding his initial honeymoon period he is at 19W-7D-22L from 48 matches during his Spurs tenure. That's a pretty mediocre return from a pretty large sample size however you slice it.

You wondered why Ange plucked off Bergvall - he was the stand out player imo.
This kid is showing so much promise he was covering ground everywhere so well and distributing.

They invested that much in infrastructure that they use for a multitude of events such as NFL, Formula 1, Live Music and so on. Don’t pretend it’s football infrastructure only. They’re a corporation, a property developer if you will with football attached to it.

Bodes well for FFP given the revenue it generates. They have the money to curate one of the best squads in Europe yet over the summer they buy a bunch of 18 year olds and extend a washed Timo Werner’s loan.

So yes, they are an unserious football club who’s very serious about making lots of money but not really spending it (wages being the key issue).

He could be at AEK Athens for all I care, he wants to win.

There’s no way you can have the summer window they just had and tell me they’re serious about instilling a winning culture.
So why is 3rd choice Ange 'the winner' there then?

Why doesn't he just resign and houn a club that wants to win?

Ange's signings.

He's had plenty of money to spend at Spurs.q

More than some of the clubs above Spurs Its not Levy's fault Ange is tactically inept and a second picker of talent.

Again it’s got nothing to do with transfer fees.

Wages is the only financial metric worth looking at in an inflated market.

Just because they spend 45million on Archie Gray, an 18 year old from The Championship doesn’t mean “he’s been backed”.

Spurs are mid table when it comes to wages in the EPL. I think they are 7th or 8th.

You can’t be mid table on wages if you have top 4 ambitions.

The best players want to be paid the most each week, would you believe.

he won manager of the month

3 times, seems so long ago.

I think if he wins a cup and finishes in the top 8 this year it will either buy him another year or he will walk if he feels he’s taken it as far as he can (fighting an uphill battle).

The problem is that at club level Ange has only ever coached in 2 tinpot leagues. The Scottish League is quite good to watch but it's tinpot. The J League is also tinpot. At least compared to the big 5 or 6 league's in Europe.

And before that he had only worked professionally in the Australian A League franchise competition which is worse than tinpot and quite possibly the most irrelevant professional football competition in the world.

Being at Tottenham and faced with the daunting task of going up against world class manager's across the league and it has been too much for the often tactically naive Big Ange.

I've heard the occasional interview over the years where Ange cites the Liverpool teams of the late 1970's to mid 1980's as his footballing blueprint. Well the Liverpool teams of that era had world class players throughout. Trying to get Tottenham to play in that style isn't possible. They're a team full of mid table level players. It's naivety in the extreme.....Ange is out of his depth!

Will be gone soon......

Batty, part of your post sums up what he and all other coachs in the EPL are up against, alot of world class players sprinkeld across top to bottom with the exception of Saints.
Isak at the Toons is unplayable for eg at times and I don't consider Howe is a much better gaffa than Ange but that he's got more talented personal on his bench at his deposal, these are the differences, look at Chelski the last number of weeks, world beaters a couple of games, next draws and draws loss, over a 1B spent Maresca is no top gaffa either.
Ange had 4 teens on the bench the other day.
Like all the gaffas at this level they are on notice, results count even though you don't have the weaponery to survive, Levy will end up in the same hole once again if/when he cuts the $bread with Ange.
Spurs/ethos hasn't changed the last 20yrs but for Poch getting them to a CL finale.

Chelsea are no longer owned by the Jew due to persecution from the English press. So no longer is Chelski relevant. Carry on.

London's League 2 club Bromley manager Andy Woodman being interviewed about his club before they face Newcastle in the FA Cup 3rd round next week........

“Improving the ground and the facilities, which are excellent, is the priority, and I agree with that. For our playing squad we have one of the lowest budgets in our league, but that’s no excuse for not doing well on the pitch."

It’s a nickname I still like to describe em.
No big deal Lulu I mean Lupi.

A league can't be that irrelevant if it helped Anges career. Seems to be your letting your issues with a league cloud your judgement

It doesn't even have promotion and relegation. It's irrelevant in world football terms.....Nobody in the real football world would take it seriously.

And the pointy end of the club football world is where Ange is operating.
