The Ange at Tottenham Thread

Don't think a loss to Arsenal at the Emirates changes much for Ange. I think it was to be expected given current league positions despite Arsenal being off the boil recently.

Spurs could barely string 2 passes together.

Spence is showing he is a natural full back whereas Porro and Udogie have looked like wingers who have been shoe-horned into fullback positions, they are defensively clueless. Also Dragusin is horrid playing out from the back, I reckon Milos Degeneck would have been a better signing for what it's worth, and that's saying something.

Having said that, the look of resignation in his post match interview tells me he knows he's gone.

Spence was great. Losing to Arsenal at Emirates in isolation doesn't change anything, falling below West Ham and Man U, who have sacked managers starts to become a problem. Goes without saying that he needs to beat Everton and Leicester and probably win the 2 Europa games as well. Maybe the league cup 1st leg gets him to the Everton game, but he has to start winning immediately now.

I think thats a pretty fair summary from the sideline banzai.
As much as I have had no care where spurs ever end up in the league I have had a soft spot for them from way back in the days they were a strong outfit.
Ardiles !
Hoddle
Houghton
Perryman
Jennings
Waddle
Gasa !
to name a few
Its all Ange for me (our greek/aussie) and I hurt he's in the deep end of a spiralling managed club for a long time.

TBH against a far more sound and better position gooner squad that struggled to finish the derby off much better than they did I actually see he has improved some players who never would have got the chance due to the woeful Levy way to business.
Spence mentioned is becoming a player, alot more to learn but he puts in thats what counts.
Bergvall - been mentioned before a real goer.
Gray, for his age thrown in the deep end 18yrs at CB of all spots hey wish we had a kid who could step in that level.
Poro, @ 25 isn't bad but needs a Snr or VDV to back him up for right now he lacks the composure when needed and staying in position.
They lack the mid general that Maddison was meant to be.
Romero missing + VDV, Ange doing it tuff and I really can't see any other new gaffa that would turn this around but thats what will happen as we know.

Solanke out for 6 weeks with a knee injury.

What are Spurs odds of getting relegated? Worth a punt surely.
That's just rotten luck! They should probably sack their strength and conditioning team before they sack Ange. Those injuries are no coincidence.

Can they hurry up and sack him so we don't have to watch anymore Spurs games. Everton cant score against anyone then score 3 in a half lol. There is no point hanging on until the 2nd leg at Anfield, they will lose 8-0.

Everton 3 Spurs 0. Invariably they bounce back amazingly the next game.

This season needed to be written off from the start anyway because it's got to be a long term thing here.

I can imagine a good summer without European competition being beneficial.

That was a long time ago before money completely took over the sport. The bottom teams are no longer competetive in the EPL. Southampton are down and Leicester and Ipswich aren't getting beyond 30.
Fair point how things have panned out of late.

Even the late rushes by bottom teams occur less nowadays.

I don't think Ange can prevent relegation, which will force Levy's hand to make a change to someone less naïve

if Spurs get relegated and it happens under Ange, Levy will shoulder all the blame for sticking with an unproven manager with no pedigree. The only team Spurs have beaten below them is Southampton. They have Leicester next. They're in freefall.

A change has to be made and soon to someone who can stabilise that midfield and defense else the CEO will look negligent.

How is it naive? With a fit squad the system has worked to a decent degree. Add the fact the squad still needs preferred transfers in some areas, it's no wonder it's not working out.

It was a mistake not to add better centre back depth. The midfield is still ad hoc with discipline issues and the attack is generally alright but lacks depth so the players are feeling it with the match load.
