Thats a really good break down and supports what I thought about that age range they were selecting from. Even narrower age range than I guessed. A full strength U23s without age restrictions/eligibility concerns would be something!

would love to see a friendly match with the senior roos and a full strength u23 squad!

Looks like iraqs senior team is calling up shamoon

If he accepts the call up, he sadly gets removed from the list

Lopane added after his second game and a debut for vartuli. New numbers:

2002 -17
2003 - 19
2004 - 27
2005 - 24
2006 - 19
2007 - 6
2008 - 3

Worth comparing once again Segecic as an u21 and Mcgree as a u22 in the a league. Pretty similar apart from mcgree being slightly harder worker and segecic being a significantly better finisher

In other news, pearman makes team of the season

--------------------------------------------------------Beach (2003,7.04)--------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------Pearman (2006,7.32)-------------------------------------------------------
---------------Adams (2002,7.37)----------------Botic (2002,7.38)-----Jed Drew (2003,7.56)----------------

caputo and lopane both putting pressure on their spots, kikianis ratings in freefall, priestman and alagich competing for valadon's spot. The average rating for the team of the season is 7.26. A rating of 7.07 would get you 1st in the a league, which is where the u23 team of the season was last year.

Another interesting point - the worse the youth the stronger the correlation between average age and performance. During the production of the golden generation in the 90s there was a weak negative correlation between results and performance(see page 15 of https://pfa.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/PFA-Golden-Generation-Report_DIGITAL.pdf).

This season there is also a weak negative correlation. Teams actually do better if they play youth this season in contrast to most seasons in the a league. If we keep that up for a decade it would reproduce what was happening in the 90s
