u23 team of the season

Will update this semi regularly and base it off fotmob rating rather than my naked eye. Others can jump in if you think someones fotmob rating is telling porkies and someone else is better

cutoff year: 2002. Birth year and rating in brackets

Best after round 2

--------------------------------------------------------Beach (2003,7.08)--------------------------------------------------
-Kealey Adamson (2003, 7.39)-Jones(2003,7.12)--Kikianis-(2005,7.05)-Bos(2004,7.13)-----
-----------------------------------------Teague-(2002,7.40)---Valadon(2003,7.25)-----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------Alagich (2004,7.26)-------------------------------------------------------
---------------Adams (2002,7.14)----------------Botic (2002,7.36)-----Jed Drew (2003,7.56)----------------

Will be interesting to watch, last season the best 11 had a rating of 7.02, a couple years before it was 6.8 and 6.6 for arnie's olyroos iirc
just one change with adams replacing pearman who had his first low rating of the season.

france being the only big 5 league in the list shows why their national team is so good
I think it’s more of a reflection on the financial state of Ligue 1. The collapsed broadcast deal with Mediapro have been disastrous for a number of French clubs.

32 out of 55 players improved their score compared to last year and average player improved by 0.1. Of course, some players improved by a lot more than that

I know fotmov scores aren't gospel measure of a players quality, but it does highlight how unpredictable development is

Debut's for crawford and Tatu, new numbers
2002 -16
2003 - 19
2004 - 26
2005 - 20
2006 - 17

List of players at least average for the league (6.87 or over)

Adams (2002, 7.14)
Botic (2002, 7.35)
Jelacic (2002,6.92)
Sapsford (2002,7.01)
Steele (2002,6.87)
Teague (2002, 7.36)
Adamson (2003,7.34)
Alagich (2003, 7.26)
Beach (2003,7.11)
Drew (2003,7.56)
Jones (2003, 7.12)
Paull (2003, 6.94)
Priestman (2003,7.01)
Valadon (2003, 7.26)
Bos (2004,7.08)
Bozonovski (2004,6.97)
Goodwin (2004,6.88)
Matthews (2004, 6.88)
Piol (2004,6.87)
Rawlins (2004,6.87)
Scicluna (2004, 7.55)
Segecic (2004,7.05)
Shaw (2004, 6.91)
Taylor (2004,6.99)
Kikianis (2005,7.05)
Pearman (2006,6.98)
Leonard (2007, 6.87)
Wong (2007, 7.03)
Eames (2008, 7.00)

Numbers from each year
2002: 6
2003: 8
2004: 10
2005: 1
2006: 1
2007: 2
2008: 1

So not just the quantity improving, but the quality as the best players skew younger. It is an achievement just to play senior football regularly at all if you are born 2005 or later, but it is worth keeping an eye on the players that are not just playing but making an impact. Kikianis, Eames, Leonard, Wong and Pearman in particular
