A-league attendances 24/25

I'm an ethnic myself, was not born in this country. Give you a hint, Ronaldo, Figo my fav players.
Ahhh, unlike us 1st gen immigrant "real wog" kinds that became unwelcome... you re the right kinda ethnic!..

The non threatening, minimally numbered, acceptably reformed (socially and politically re educated almost "New Australian") kind that was happy to drop the ethnic pre cursor to become a new dawner! Because again as you have also said the NSL excluded you and the aleague welcomed you happily... no need to repeat it we got it!

No more ethnic talk from this comment forwards, crowd figures and discussions only.

@melbcityguy maybe create another topic (or toooo controversial of a topic?)
I just find it all interesting. A scientist should do a study on us all. I mean crikey some people like the nsl some like the a league it's the same sport and nothing we have control of 😆

I doubt we will get a 10k crowd this round. I think the average will be 5k

Anyone got a graph showing average (yearly) crowd numbers since the start of the AL?

Haha I remember on the insidesport forum when you thought we should settle what's better NPL or A-League, and all us NPL goes were like "No mate, NPL is shit!", shame that forum went to hell.

Association football is an addiction in Europe and its synonymous with cities/towns.

A mate, just spent some time in Wolverhampton and the one thing he told me was, you can strike up a conversation with anyone about the Wanderers. Even if the person you're talking to is a Villa fan they won't think it's weird.

I think Australia had that relationship with cricket maybe AFL in the southern states up until around the late 1980s / early 90s, relocations, expansion and the growth of mega televised sports coverage really diluted that.

Therefore, you're never ever going to have a European or South American style football culture in Australia. Randomly implementing today one or two features of European Football, such as pro/rel, or a winter schedule, isn't going to make it magically happen.

What Football lacks in Australia is respect even from Football people who for decades have said its crap and not as good or anywhere near European level.

The real growth is not getting the noisy former NSL folk on board its getting the player base on board, who often think Australian professional Football is crap. Constant infighting and dick measuring does not help.

Finally, the way Football folk in Australia have said my dick is bigger than your dick is the try and destroy the credibility of the other… in the civil war to remove Lowy all sides attacked the A-L often questioning its quality and coaching. The result adds further to the belief Australian Football is crap.

Sermon over

Things are getting interesting this season. We're within reach of surpassing the pre-COVID average, if we can get another few hundred or so to each match.

And thanks to Auckland entering, we'll go close to the most people through the turnstyles in a season EVER! We might fall short, probably depends on who hosts the finals.

Only CCM and Macarthur are down at this rate.
When you consider that CCM have lost Danny Vukovic, Jacob Farrell, James McGarry, Dan Hall, Nector Triantis, Max Balard, Josh Nisbet, Samuel Silvera, Béni Nkololo, Angel Torres, Jason Cummings, Moresche, Marco Túlio, Dylan Wenzel-Hall & Jing Reec plus some other promising youngsters since June 2023 Grand Final it is amazing that they are only down 3%. Some characters and fan favourites in that group.

If they can start to gel properly and have a positive window then they will probably also end up above last season, Which was above the previous season.
