How do you get through life with so much hatred ? FWIW , I am on a rolling season ticket. Anyhoo I have a must win game to attend tomorrow night. You enjoy the minor league when it restarts.Ask for your money back either way champ... and use it to buy next years franchise membership!!
Utb mate I support the boro as wellThere's definitely some healthy robust debate on this thread. Me? Well I like the idea of the A-League and generally like the way it's set up for the Australian sporting way of life.
But I'm a Middlesbrough fan through and through and they're always going to be my first love. But because I live now in Australia I'll support my local A-League team Sydney FC and when the season is over I'll go around the grounds and watch the odd match from NPL and state leagues.
I suppose I'm an easy target for the football authorities to entice along.
But I always wonder how many fans of the game are like me that dont go? Maybe came out from the UK or another football mad country, support a club from home and just want to carry on watching a reasonably decent level of football here?
I've never really seen an advertising campaign or the such like from the A-League targeting the likes of myself. Fans of overseas teams but try and spark some interest in the Australian domestic game.
Thoughts???
I've got a mate from Scotland who says exactly this just about every time he goes to a game. You think they would do an advertising cambering like that, lots of people from the British Iles in Melb / Syd. A few of them go to the games, but if you really wanted more of them to go advertise that your allowed to drink beer in your seat (can't do that in the epl). I also don't know why the a-league hasn't appealed to the disgruntled AFL live goer considering that (I'm assuming) you won't get kicked out of the game for shouting at the players / referees.
Me and you mates for life!Utb mate I support the boro as well
i have met a few guys like you that have come from the UK and now support clubs here in Australia. One Scouser in Particular tried to support Sydney FC and the A-League but couldnt do it, he said it felt 'forced'. Now he happily supports Sydney United in the NPL home and away. There's definitely some healthy robust debate on this thread. Me? That is the unfortunate thing, the lack of marketing. There's definitely some healthy robust debate on this thread. Me? Well I like the idea of the A-League and generally like the way it's set up for the Australian sporting way of life.

And there's nothing wrong with following a club like Sydney United, Olympic or APIA.I'll go to the odd game in the NPL myself. These clubs are the heart and soul of the Australian game. And with that Scouse mate of yours just make sure you are constantly checking your pockets when he's around!i have met a few guys like you that have come from the UK and now support clubs here in Australia. It's definitely something that the people who are looking at trying to drum up support for clubs should be looking at.That is the unfortunate thing, the lack of marketing.
I have many mates like you, who follow an O/S from various countries, whether they be Aussie, British, Indian, Croatian Greek or even kiwis, who enjoy the Game but tells me they didn't know the A-LEAGUE started.
The fans are there, they don't know how to market them
I think there's been about 10 Socceroos that have played for us. I remember a tv interview with Frank Lowy and he said his favourite English team was Middlesbrough!!For sure mate. I saw a boro fan at the game last night there's a few of us around like
