Jets are playing some slick football too.Fotmob saying 6,889 in Perth
5,461 in Newcastle
Their season crowds are up slightly, perhaps because they finally have crowds backJets are playing some slick football too.
They deserve more than 5 461.
I know fans offline of Jets.Their season crowds are up slightly, perhaps because they finally have crowds back
From my perspective they are less exciting as a neutral for me as they are one of the eldest teams in terms of having a small number of australian u23s start (natta and taylor) and only one 2005+ player getting semi regular time in dobson in fairness that would be decent in previous seasons
Yeah it depends how u measure it. If u go average age, sure.I know fans offline of Jets.
They think they are a young side. Must be a lot of 23 and 24 yos - Aquilero, Timmins, Ko ( captain), Eli ?, Wilmering, Bayliss - fractionally too old for the u23s, but I'm told are still young. I've looked some of them up.
I think only Rose and Koto were over 25 of the outfield Jets players who played Roar?
Taylor and Natta are going well.
From what the commentators say, Jets have the highest number of passes accrued in the AL this season.
Up by 8%.Ta, SB.

The trick is getting the balance between youth and experience. I get your point that we all like to see younger players getting game time and improving the quality of the game but too much youth without guidance leads to disaster.Yeah it depends how u measure it. If u go average age, sure.
But I think if you have a couple of 30 plus players and a bunch of 17 year olds you are younger in the more meaningful sense of the word than a team with a bunch of 24 yeat olds
The current fraction of minutes is similar to what the eredivisie, jupiler league and the nsl produced year in and year out. The pfa just recently released a comparison demonstrating just thisThe trick is getting the balance between youth and experience. Michael Lynch writing in the The Age years ago wrote the same thing. The current fraction of minutes is similar to what the eredivisie, jupiler league and the nsl produced year in and year out. The pfa just recently released a comparison demonstrating just this
In my opinion it only seems like a lot of minutes to youth since we were for most of our history, even post covid, one of the most conservative leagues in the world (for some reason) so fans aren't used to investing in youth
I think just about any player that signs for the epl will take a few loans and years on the sidelines. True even of our absolute elite in irankunda and eames. The jump these days is pretty formidableMichael Lynch writing in the The Age years ago wrote the same thing.
But the AFL has always made a big thing about youth players. So it will not be a big leap.
All we need is for an A-League youth player to land a contract and game time in the EPL and people will start switching. Pity about GKuol.

r_l - true its hard but there are shedloads of talent for every position today across the park BUT for GK imo talking making top flight for that matter.I feel like this is MUCH harder now. With how quotas work in the EPL (homegrown players etc.)
There are two types of players we can produce that might gain interest:
1. A generational talent that is courted by many European clubs and somehow manages to get first team minutes because of injuries
2. A talented player in a position where the market is generally low in supply (think traditional number 9's, full backs, ball-playing left-footed centre backs, defensive midfielders/6's)
My issue with our current development framework is it produces lots of 8's and wingers/inside forwards and there are shitloads of them around the world. They're a dime a dozen and the talent of those coming out of Africa and lower tier European countries are far better. Even the South Korean & Japanese players in those positions are more talented.
I think our youth scouting tries to find players that can fit into our rigid development framework rather than look for these "outlier" type profiles that would really turn the heads of EPL clubs.

We have trained out the "outlier" types my friend imo but you make good point thats for sure.
Really? Like who? (and i mean whose considered talented by Europe, not our own shores)
The bigger European clubs already have U18 talent loaned out to lower tier euro-clubs playing every week.
Whose on that list from Aus?

Yes. For most Aussie kids, these games are where it's at.your meaning cricket/gayfl/nrl for eg.....
Its a real shame we don't see more indigenes kids playing in the A-League or even cricket for that matter as we do in the AFL and NRL, maybe there's less obscenities in football and cricket that there is in AFL and NRL. The cost just to play the game at Jr/Youth level must see a lot of them walk away. The biggest difference is that Australia is NOT a football country, therefore the most talented end up somewhere else.
