Coming out of last season, i knew that to improve this team, we needed a dominant half (either HB or 5/8th) and a dominant FB.

We didnt recruit into these positions and will likely suffer the consequences this season.

Our spine is nowhere near the top 4 or even many top 8 sides. If we don't replicate our defence of last season, it could be a disastrous season.

There are teams below us with better spines. Tigers one of them. As soon as they build some cohesion, they'll overtake us.

We will need to improve our spine next year otherwise 2024 will look an aberration.

What took you so long…

The young guys Woods, O'Neill and Cochrane look pretty good.

Todd will end up being a rep level lock..

I want Todd in the side ASAP, the other young guys still need to work on their game.

Tracey and Taffee are good at the attacking side of the game, both have the odd game where they are shaky under the high ball.

I is one trial loss against a very good team.

Jammer has picked Canberra for the spoon, that is how competitive the season will be.

Dragons round one will be tough, they have improved.

Gutho is apparently providing direction at the Dragons for relatively inexperienced halves.

Sexton was ok in the trail, running passing, kicking and defence.

Burto came up with some bad lapses, and generally looked rusty, but as the saying goes class is permanent.

Both Burton and Sexton are fairly experienced NRL halves, fairly close to their peak. Which may or may not be good enough to win a comp. O'Neill might do enough to claim the NRL 7.

We have 3 pretty good NRL 7s Sexton, O'Neill and Woods, 2 capable backups Haywood and Tia.

Taffee executed a set move pretty well against the Broncos, was reasonably solid under kicks and defended ok for a small guy.

2 unfortunate dropped balls from Tracey, otherwise ok.

If a good player becomes available, especially at fullback, I think we will try to sign them. I mean someone like Brimson or Munroe.

So he would need to be a good player, who's best position is fullback, who can't get a run at fullback for their current club.

We are not signing Ponga or Walsh.

Fist team list Tuesday mixed in with cyclone prep.

Mann best player in 2nd trial, Todd best in first trial both should be in the 17.

My hunch is Todd will eventually replace Yeo in the NSW SOO side.

Big and skilful, but has footwork and speed. Should end up being a great lock.

No Todd , but Toups is in.

Gus needs to learn that Marki is doing recruitment and retention and Cirro needs to learn I'm doing team selection.

Make the Bulldogs Great Again .... well sort of 😉

So dangerous contact is now when your thigh hits a bloke with the ball???...

Good to start the season with a win.

The last Dragons try was a bit of a hail mary.

IMO Dragons have improved and were up for it.

Overall not a bad performance for round 1.

I hope Critter isn't charged, I don't think that it was intentional, but they might call it reckless,

The Dragons guy wasn't injured, and they got the penalty try,

They really only scored a couple of legit trys... Lame penalty try, another couple with Critter out of play or cramping including the hail Mary...
Great to get the W in Rd 1!!! Plenty of lessons and a W is a good thing...
Presto, Man crush, and Does not stand Stilli were great... DsF massive early... Maxy very good.. Xerri strong... line speed and kick chase excellent...

Does not Stand still very impressive on dogs debut.

I think that we have better depth this season.

Overall I think that we were slightly the better teams for most of that game. Score gives them at least one try that they didn't really earn.
