One of the points was that an NST would automatically make them professional along with all the clubs. If only 6 clubs can afford the 500k, how then would that satisfy that point?

I knew the unbundling would be brought up. This actually adds more weight to the lack of resources.

And like I've said so many times, I don't disagree with many of the points being made. I'm simply talking from my own views, experience, and understandings. From covering the A-League for 10 years. From covering the EPL and working at an EPL club. From my dealings with FQ and other governing bodies. The bit by bit needs to be done. I just don't think that that bit is the NST in the mould that everyone seems to envision it.

You can think that. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I know the documents I've seen and the conversations I've had
all depends on the age old question of what you cosnider "professional" we can see that the Alegaue frcnsheis are losing money hand over fist.... is that "professional" at the moment?

Professional would be full time. As in football is their job, no need to find a 2nd income. Constantly losing money isn't ideal as it will only affect the product long term.

The majority of professional football clubs around the world lose money don't they?
thats the trillion $ question eh....and its never really clear tbh.
ogarlords/corporates have brilliant accountants cooking the books.
Shuffling funds from one business to another what works best to cover the total portfolio reducing tax's.
You see the smaller mid table Clubs show pre tax profit figures that you could believe whereas what could you believe all the large high financed ones like Citeh/United/RM/Barca etcetc....

Everyone else does it, we should to
I suppose the point is that it doesn't affect the product long term. However, big teams that have big owners should be looking at owning their own infrastructure. Ultimately it will lower costs and provide additional match day revenue streams while also providing an infrastructure that can generate non match day revenue. This is how NPL clubs survive. Sure - it may be on a grander scale - but if they are truly big clubs that is the way to go.

e.g. CFG should not be using AAMI except for large games - they should have their own smaller (but expandable) stadium.

Makes me wonder how far this could go

like would the clubs keep going if they randomly doubled the salary floor haha

You have kind of answered your own question. Leagues you are talking about have clubs that own all their infrastructure. We don't. Look at the Roar for example. Don't think we own anything of our own. Constantly paying rent and fees to others beyond the basic football costs.

People will still play football, but the quality will be affected.

Outside of a handful of clubs, NOBODY owns their own infrastructure mate.

Perfect, so you would agree that provided a club is paying its staff and players the basic Australian wage (at a minimum - and not made up "scholarship and cadet wages") they are indeed "professional"?
