Over 100 years of history in this country tells us , that ain’t going to happen.Bigger crowds.
Maybe it will maybe it wont...... My guess is that an NST will bring about a whole bunch of games with similar attendances to what the lower end of League is currently getting.. Surely for THAT alone its worth it?Over 100 years of history in this country tells us , that ain’t going to happen.
As long as the AFL and NRL heirachies are still influencing the majority of the population and governments, football looks to have reached its level of attendances.
Even if the NST gets up and we have promotion and relegation, it won’t influence the crowds we currently attract.
Yes , we will still attract big attendances for big games, but that is it.( Hope I am wrong )
In Australia mostly yes. A few other lower leagues too. But in a lot of leagues, clubs own their infrastructure. Even own their own marketing and merchandise productionOutside of a handful of clubs, NOBODY owns their own infrastructure mate.
I'm not discussing the definition of professional. I was discussing its long term viability.Perfect, so you would agree that provided a club is paying its staff and players the basic Australian wage (at a minimum - and not made up "scholarship and cadet wages") they are indeed "professional"?
Sure, at the top end of town at each league, maybe ... but we are nowhere NEAR the top end of town down here, it shouldn't be this way in a league where you can't get relegated and there is nothing really to aim for by winning anyway?More lose money than make it.

12 games a round (1st and second division) with 10 games at around 3-4K and 2 games at 10K plus
is better than
6 games a round with 4 games at 3-4K and 2 games at 10K no?
You have the choice of owners investing in teams to build 10k stadiums or praying that lobbying the government works eventuallyDo you have a solution to this ?
That will never happen in Australia. I think only one club actually own their ground in the NRL & AFL. Cronulla are that team. You have the choice of owners investing in teams to build 10k stadiums or praying that lobbying the government works eventually
They have got the new SFS, the new Parramatta stadium, and the new stadium in Townsville over the past few years. That will never happen in Australia. I think only one club actually own their ground in the NRL & AFL. Cronulla are that team.
The rugby league have been lobbying for years to build new grounds, with very little success.
Football viability is unquestioned... we will always play it in one form or another... insistence on corporate facilities and "match day you tube experience" and Instagram friendly moments is another conversation entirely. In Australia mostly yes. Exactly ..... I caught WU v Victory on the TV the other day.... brand new, perfectly sized stadium and it looked empty for the 5-10 mins I watched.... can;'t complain about facilities... especially NOT in the Aleague. And we currently use two of them, that people are saying are too big.
The Parramatta stadium was built for WSWFC & PRLFC, Since then they have failed to show up.
hoping to have an investor in place sounds less advanced than hoping to finalize the details with an investor....
is this take 5 or take 6 now????
I've lost count even here.is this take 5 or take 6 now????
Its really the last available "market" left for expansion in the APL model of doing things.... unless they really do go overseas with expansion licenses to Indonesia and Pacific Islands like they threatened...I've lost count even here.
Following the wiki page on this, it's the 5th bid, but still the same organisation as the third (but with different/non-existent financial backers)
Maybe Canberra is becoming wise and not uniting for a franchise, and looking to connect through NST....?Its really the last available "market" left for expansion in the APL model of doing things.... unless they really do go overseas with expansion licenses to Indonesia and Pacific Islands like they threatened...
