u23 team of the season

I'd feel much better if we had 3-4 keeley adamsons. Since Simmons lost his place I believe he is the only young rb starting!

Talbot started RB tonight for Melb City. I think he is talented - good technician on the ball, very intelligent, works cohesively with players around him, quick off the mark, nimble.

Atkinson moved to midfield. I think his talent is here ATM as he likes moving further forwards. He has lost a lot of 1v1s in the A League for a RB in the last few games, but he was better in 1v1s in the first half further afield against CCM.

I'm not too worried at RB because Geria, who you don't appear to rate much, is doing an outstanding job as RB, right CB for the Socceroos, or even Right Wing Back. Geria is the easily the top 1v1 ball winner for the Socceroos against Japan, Saudi and Bahrain. In fact since the Socceroos beat all teams in 1v1 duels, Geria has been the best 1v1 ball winner on the pitch for both teams in every game for the last Socceroo games he has played, including, I'd surmise, against China.

One match he came on as right Wing Back, and did better than Miller too.

Is Dylan Pererais playing RB for WSW? I rate him as a footballer. In the past he has played further forwards. Simmons is far too good at RB to be a sub though. They need him as a RB at Glory, possibly Roar, or even Jets, and maybe CCM too?

With Adamson, Atkinson, Simmons and Talbot, plus the older, experienced Geria in the AL, we are well covered for RB.

I think that Gethyn Jones is done as Socceroo RB. I can't see what Arnie saw in him?

Miller is a good RB or RWB, against the right opponent. Against China he excelled. But struggled against the others in the last few games.

Strain looked solid at RB.

If Atkinson moves back to Socceroo RB, he has to improve his 1v1s body on body capacity.

Quite a few debuts this week. Any one know what year Christian Bacco was born?

There is a long way between rating a player and thinking a player is bad

I want someone better than Geria, ideally but that doesn't mean I think he is doing a bad job. Ideally I would like to have someone big 5 quality in every position by the start of next decade

Surname "Bracco"

29th January 2004

Another date I found is below, but it looks like a generic date.

1st January, 2005
Thanks, updated as 2004. Makes 2004 pull further ahead of 2002 and 2003 which means the a league should improve rapidly in the next few years

We have a lot more lower quality youth this year, but we also have more higher quality youth. Consider the u23 players who are in the top 50 a league players each year according to sofascore

24/25 9 players: Ryan Teague, Eli Adams, Keeley Adamson, Ethan Alagich, Noah Botic, Jordi Valadon, Dylan Scicluna, Kasey Bos, Thomas Waddingham
23/24 2 players:Jacob Farrel, Nestory Irankunda,
22/23 7 players Calem Nieuwenhof, Nectarios Triantis, Marco Tilio, Samuel Silvera, Kai Trewin, Keegan Jelacic, Louis D'Arrigo
21/22 3 players Connor Metcalf, Jacob Farrell, Kai Trewin
20/21 8 players Jake Brimmer, Cameron Devlin, Connor Metcalf, Denis Genreau, Keanu Baccus, Kai Trewin, Joel King, Rahmat Akbari
19/20 2 players Riley Mcgree, Keanu Baccus (this year also had cacace)
18/19 2 players Keanu Baccus, Riley Mcgree
17/18 2 players Stefan Mauk, Ben Garuccio,
16/17 2 players Brandon O'Niell, Jonathan Aspropotamitis
15/16 3 players Jamie Mclaren, Stefan Mauk, Alex Grant, Dimitri Petratos

Looking at the list every player from the past became at least a standout a league player apart from king, Akbari and Aspropoptamis. Most made it in Europe some ok. There is a noticeable jump in 20/21 until today and it is a record breaking year

I'll do the same thing with fotmob, it doesn't go as far back though. There is a lot of overlap in players and once again it shows a record year this year so far

24/25 9 players Jed Drew, Keeley Adamson, Dylan Scicluna Ryan Teague, Jordi Valadon, Ethan Alagich, Noah Botic, Kasey Bos, Oliver Jones
23/24 5 players Jacob Farrell, Nicolas Milanovic, Jake Holman, Nestory Irankunda, Ryan Teague
22/23 7 players Jordan bos, Calem Nieuwenhof, Marco Tilio, Keegan Jelacic, Nectorios Triantis, Maximilien Balard, Kai Trewin
21/22 3 players Conor Metcalfe, Joshua Nisbet, Marco Tilio,
20/21 8 players Cameron Devlin, Conor Metcalfe, Nathaniel Atkinson, Denis Genreau, Keanu Baccus, Joel King, Gianni Stensness, Aiden O'Niell
19/20 5 players Riley Mcgree, Cameron Devlin, Keanu Baccus, Nathaniel Atkinson, Gianni Stensness
18/19 3 players: Aaron Calvar, Riley Mcgree, Johnny Koutrombis

Club form doesn't always extrapolate to national team performance, with different game plans from some club scenarios.

Although this isn't about youth, Geria has surprisingly been a revelation for the Socceroos.

Archie Goodwin is showing a good skill set for a young central striker ATM.

true thats why I said big 5 quality rather than big 5 player. Ideally you have a few in the big 5 for each position to take into account that they may not hit the same level internationally

a few debuts have been added to the list

2002 -16
2003 - 19
2004 - 24
2005 - 17
2006 - 13
2007 - 6
2008 - 2

waddingham's ratings have been in free fall. It's not unusual for young players to have good and bad patches

Jelacic and Jones make their way into team of the season. Valadon and Teague have dropped below scicluna. Should I include scicluna despite his acl?

As I've been googling so many players I don't know in the AL, I'm finding heaps of them are young Aussies aged 22 and under.

Making up an U23 team of the season is getting increasingly difficult! There are so many candidates!

would love people to do a non-fotmob version to compare with!

Pierias played wing at WSW and left then over 6 months ago. Adelaide signed him to play wing as well but then ended up playing RB and he's been one of our best players this season.
