Great stuff. I reckon we are a minimum of two years away from seeing this completed, which goes against what was originally promised.

That's literally on the other side of the fence from their current pitches. As much as I hate urban sprawl, boxed in properties, and the destruction of green spaces... this is great news for Western United.

Apartments are a way more efficient use of land. I went out that way and it is a hellscape of detached dwellings that are no bigger than a shoe box. At what point do they say "fuck it, these may as well be apartments."

Agree. Single storey boxes, next door walls within arm's reach, hearing your neighbour take a piss...

The Aussie dream of the quarter acre block was killed off long ago. At least build apartments. Gives a lot more people an affordable roof over their head.

I actually rate them for the most part. It means more parkland, better pt and social amenities but the further you build out the more things start to cost with less social benefit.

Yeah nothing builds social harmony like 4 story apartment blocks in a gated housing estate surrounded by farmland with one road in and out.... :(

ended up watching..... seems like a bit of let down, the local council obviously went the cheap option..... Looks like a smaller "home of the Matilda's" .. SO much for the second governemtn built rectangualr stadium in Australia ... pffffttt they think if they repeat the lie enough times the feebs will buy it....

Lets see Horvat put his money were his mouth is with the Werribee Wembley........ Will he start that BEFORE he sells the house lots and retail precinct or... as many suspect.... after?

I reckon you'll enjoy this tidbit.
8:33 - "Where we play now (ironbark fields) is the second rectangular stadium in the state"
This is a line they pull out every now and then, but he's butchered it here. It's Victoria's second A-League standard rectangular ground (even though they played an A-League game at Morshead Park, which doesn't meet the APL's updated requirements anymore). The 15k stadium will be the third. Really, they've just ticked all the boxes like lighting and media facilities. It has very little to do with seats or stands.

HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH Even Jack Edwards now has more seats (still concrete steps but the seats are coming) than the Tarneit tentcity...

Well he definitely shouldn't be referring to Ironbark Fields as a "stadium" as it's simply not one. It's also a bit of a weird flex anyway. Of course an A-League team is playing at a venue that meets A-League requirements. An NPL team doesn't play in the A-League so their venues don't need to meet A-League requirements. That being said, if Ironbark Fields meets requirements then I can name a bunch of others that could be brought up to spec in a very very short amount of time. Nothing unique about Ironbark Fields. It's just a football pitch with some seats.

about 1500 less seats than the home of the Matilda's, another rectangular stadium that was built by the state government and local council..... :)

I think it's worth talking about but more in the sense that Victoria has a lack of suitable football stadiums. There are three A-League teams in Melbourne and yet there was only one stadium that was suitable for football. We now have another pitch that has made the grade which is a step in the right direction. The completion of Wyndham City Stadium will be an important achievement for football in Victoria as it would be the state's second, proper rectangular stadium.
