A-league attendances 24/25

Boutique is anything that's size appropriate. In my eyes anyway. Doesn't mean boutique beers hahaha.
The only time i have heard " boutique " stadium mentioned in Australia, has been when describing, Gold coast and Melbourne rectangular stadiums.

The BBL was on......

the AU v WSW game at hindmarsh last friday had 13227, whilst the big bash was on at adelaide oval

the friday prior to that, AU v SFC also clashed with the big bash in adelaide… but still got 11907

we quite often clash with the nbl too… but still get decent crowds

i don’t buy that as an excuse… much bigger population, beautiful stadium, team doing well

🤷‍♀️

Only in the A-League will people look at the biggest crowd of the round and find negatives.

not being negative and not having a dig… i’ve just never understood why SFC, WSW and MV don’t have better crowds, especially in the instances where the teams are doing well

Maybe Melbourne and Sydney are sick of getting the prime spot. Maybe it should be shared around a bit more.

The champions of the last two years get one 7:30 Sat game. Conversely CCM (based in a commuter region) gets 4 Friday night 7:30 games.

i think, where possible all teams should have their fixtures planned around, the days and times, which historically draw the biggest crowds

especially now that we’re free of fox’s control

or is that too obvious?

Because it's a poor crowd and should be called out for what it is
If the biggest crowd of the round is poor, the other games must have absolutely atrocious crowds. Most clubs have been around for 20 years now. More than enough time to be getting above 10k to a game every week. Yeah Melbourne and Sydney are huge population centres but all other clubs are in cities with big enough populations to get 10k through the gates yet most don't.

There’s definitely been a noticeable uptick - helped a lot by the success of Auckland FC - for all teams apart from Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle unfortunately.
probably slow healing of the damage of both covid, the GF decision and the war on active support. The suits aren't pro active support these days but at least aren't at war with them

At what point do the attendance numbers not become a factor in evaluating a move to winter??

Lets say the attendances average out at 8500 this season, i would envision a move to winter would see the same numbers be realised. Hot weather is actually deterring attendances.

Might as well go up against the AFL and NRL if it aligns the football pyramid.

Has their been a precedent to this ?

It’s Not just about attendances , tv viewers/sponsorships/ ground availability comes into play to.
