Green & Gold FC Podcast #3 – SMFC Mike & Pete

don't agree with living in the past - time has moved on for all.
One side the Clubs below just wish's for a balance and fairness into the whole of the game, that shouldn't be pointed or taken down by cheap low shots as has carried on.
The APL your side need the NPL for starters, your piece of the pie cannot sustain or survive without it for the academies can only do so much.
Lets face it it is not that much better but thats its Pro, no more no less.

MCG not everyone who supports NPL is a fossil.
I see plenty your age and younger.
My sons are 33/24 - their mates vary in ages and they go to more NPL games than they have AL, their choice not from my influence, as my wife says they are grown arse men.
I should kiss their feet following the semi pro instead of what you do :) haha
You don't know nothing about the VNPL till your around us the last years for eg.

Nikola Šubić Zrinski used this salute in his glorious death in the march against the Ottoman Empire in the 16th Century where Suleiman I died
It was also used by our most known Ban (vice-king) during the war against Hungary Josip Jelačić

The salute is used regularly for CENTURIES in the opera ‘Nikola Šubić Zrinski’ which is also performed on universities abroad, even in Japan

It was then used by the Ustashe from 1941.-1945. which this issue is about.

It was also used from 1990.-1995. by Croats and Muslims from Bosnia in defense against the Serbian invasion by the Croatian Defense Force paramilitary group, which fought on the hardest of battlefields and marched to certain death even in Vukovar where the official army forbade them to come, and even imprisoned them.

The Croatian people that support the salute don’t believe it’s a fascist salute but an old Croatian salute and thats why majority will always say it. it's the western media and the left that have taken it out of context. The name "Za Dom Spremni" only means for the home land ready. there is nothing hateful about it.
So when members of Sydney United make that gesture is it intended to show pride in their Croatian roots?

If that is the case, appreciating that it was used by Croatian and German facists while they were attempted or commiting genocide on Jews and others, why still use it?

I'm curious on your perspective, are people hiding behind that older history as an excuse to continue making a hate gesture? Or is it really just pride in national heritage?

Is it a bit of both?

I feel if its the latter, aren't there other ways to show that pride without using a gesture with that awful history?

If it's the former fuck those people. There's no place for it.

I think that's where Adelaide is the template for the rest of the league. That club has been heavily focused on developing young South Australian talent and it has paid off somewhat.

That's why Brisbane need to do with Queensland.

It's something that we (Sydney FC) got dragged kicking and screaming on during Covid, it forced to look at our youth ranks more and you can see its worked to a degree with the likes of Hayden Matthews getting his shot then going to England to play for Portsmouth.
Ageed - Looking at the starting xi for adeliade vs melbourne victory

Ethan Cox - South australian
Pieras - Melbourne
Bart Vriends - Eredivisie quality foreigner
kikianis - south australian
Kitto - South australian (junior club)
Barnett - south australian
alagich - south australian
Mauk - south australian
Clough - prime age played who had some time in the championship
Folami - NSW
Goodwin - NSW

So more than half of their xi are south australians on many promising subs like jovanovic are as well

Which Gesture are you referring too? ZDS or the Roman Salute? ZDS first of all, the motto was hijacked by Ustase. However those 3 words by itself have nothing hateful or aggressive or offensive in them. It is quite similar to Deuchland uber alles that Nazis used prior and during WW2 but unlike “Za Dom spremni” was never forbidden.

i think you'd have to be a bit naïve to do a salute these days in a western country and thinking you can get away with it.

ZDS is nothing more but national pride in my opinion, like i said before it was used in the 90s. and still used to this day.

Your full of shit. There's videos showing the crowd sung the National Anthem. So STFU.

Macarthur sure did out play United with those 2 penalties
I was at the game in the stadium not watching on tv. Crowd behaviour was f*#cked.

they(we) are... theres a new national rival football competition starting, backed by the FA, havent you heard?
This sort of talk is why football will always be a backwater in this country.

Instead of uniting behind the game cunts are always at each other's throats to destroy each other from within.

Rugby union would be rejoicing at football eating their own once again.

Dont blame cunts... blame the FA who is abandoning the franchises to their own devices....

I blame everyone. This game will always be nothing but a backwater in this country as the game's fanbase, stakeholders etc all hate each other and are at their happiest when they're at each others throats.

People wank themselves into a frenzy about how the media is supposedly the enemy who give football a raw deal but its the game's own people who are the real problem.

As the saying goes a house divided among itself cannot stand.

Either unite behind the game or fuck off.

Can't argue with anything youve said...

I agree, either get behind the Championship or fuck off.

Opinion on how you unite behind the game varies wildly which is the problem.

I'd like to see pro-rel with the NSD teams and AL. I don't see why the AL clubs should feel so threatened. They're either strong enough and survive. Or not.

I was referring to your irrational psychotic hatred of the A-League because your beloved Souff Malbourne aren't in it.

Those clubs should've folded in 2005.

Monocultural ethnic social clubs are anachronism in modern day multicultural Australia.

Is that how you see it though?
Im not sold one way or the other as to how FA is approaching this at the moment... Its all marketing spin to launch a new comp, granted, but you must see that both "sides" of this are either rabidly against or rabidly for the new competition ....
